JBE will win, not sure if it goes to a runoff or not though

The risk for Edwards is a runoff with Rispone after he surprised for 2nd in the primary round.  Otherwise, JBE is clearly favored.

If Trump were to hold a rally in Louisiana next month, how much of an effect would that have on the governor's race (as well as various legislative races)?

A whole lot. Not because he would be polarizing the race but because he or his administration would have to endorse one of Rispone or Abraham, that's just how a local campaign rally works. That would centralize GOP voters, and suddenly JBE might have a race on his hand.

JBE's best shot is to take it in the jungle primary, since that means he won't have to deal with Trump or a united GOP field at all. Granted Landrieu and Dantzler probably force it to a runoff, with what looks possible to be Rispone now, that was a surprise to me.

It’ll most likely go to a runoff election, wherein Abraham will win by high single digits.

Abraham won't even make it into a runoff.

I think JBE avoids a runoff with 52% of the vote, give or take 1%. I guess it could go to a runoff, but people here are seriously underestimating JBE (and Hood).

From a FB friend:

Quote
As of Day 2, the Louisiana early vote numbers are:

43.64% D
42.17% R
14.19% Other

Right now, Republicans have increased their improvement from 2015, now running 6.29% better. "Other" is also now doing almost 1% better than 2015.

When you break it down by race, it is:

73.27% White
24.33% Black
  2.4%    Other

Compared to 2015 early vote, so far the electorate is about 2% more white.

Traditionally for a Democrat to win statewide in Louisiana, they need 30%+ of the electorate to be black. But much of the black vote doesn't vote until election day. The more they fall behind on early vote means they have to do more work on election day. Early vote numbers are also a gauge of voter enthusiasm.

We'll see how this develops more in the next 5 days.

The fact that had didn't endorse or do turnout rallies make this a non-factor. Nothing changed. If he endorsed the race would be flipped on its head but... Just telling someone to go vote with no carrots, sticks, or flashy lights rarely works.

Like I said earlier rallies for a party never work because people lack the motivation, they need to be for a person. A person sticks in your mind, a party is just a brand with a variety of flavors. If trump endorsed now, that would be different, but that's not happening till next week if at all.

In a sense, yes. They want Pelosi to go back to the kitchen table.
