McCains obvious running mate would be Giuliani and he would carry NY and some Eastern elitist states.

New York would vote Republican but not Connecticut?  Maryland, but not Delaware?  Not likely.

It seems a lot of us are looking at this match-up based on their political views.  Which is of course a good thing.  But we seem to be underestimating how they would be seen by the American public.  In this case, we have a fresh-faced handsome charmer from a Southern state, versus an octogenerian with health issues.  In fact, it'd be a lot like 1996 all over again.

I would give Virginia and Connecticut to McCain, otherwise I concur with your map

Edwards may be 'southern', but I doubt he'd do well there even against McCain. He's inexperienced (1 term as a Senator) and has been branded with a 'liberal' image that's tough to shake off.  He'd have to run against Guiliani to pull off even half of the South. At most, he'd win a few very populist places like Arkansas or West Virginia.

McCain by about 350 evs. Dean's map is best, although i'd give Connecticut and maybe Hawaii to Edwards and slide Minnesota into McCain's column.

This would be an interesting one but I still believe you all are over estimating the states willingness to break party lines, particularly in the South, however if there was one grouping of condidates who could have the above results this would be it.

Think this one is the most accurate so far.
