Suppose these are the points of divergence:

Jeff Sessions decides to stay in the US Senate instead of becoming Attorney General.
Therefore, the 2017 Alabama special election never happens and Republicans keep the seat.
Obamacare repeal still fails throughout all of 2017.
McCain still dies at the same time he died in real life, and Jon Kyl is still appointed to replace him.
Once Jon Kyl is appointed, Republicans swiftly repeal Obamacare in October 2018, finally having the votes to do so.

Repealing Obamacare would have been a massive mistake for the GOP, because the Dems would be sitting on a 53-47 majority in the Senate, 31-19 majority of governorships, and 49 extra seats for a 284-151 seat majority.
