All Trump supporters: "That's not what he meant!"

All Trump supporters: "Even if he did mean that, it's not fascism."

All Trump supporters: "Even if it's fascism, we're still going to vote for him."

This is why I think the possibility of Trump suspending the Constitution and/or dissolving Congress isn't very far fetched.

Nothing is far fetched with him.

That's why I find it incredible when people laugh at the notion he may not willingly leave office should he lose.

His term will end on Jan 20th whether or not he likes it or not . The new President can just order the Secret Service to escort Trump out of the White House and have him arrested for trespassing if he doesn’t leave .

Well, I think Old School Republican is right on this one. I think Mr. Trump, if he loses next year, will refuse to attend the inauguration, quitely leave the WH and later claim he's the victim of a rigged system.

Will Trump immediately call into question the legitimacy of the election? Almost certainly.

Will Trump directly accuse the democrats of organized voter fraud? Almost certainly.

Will Trump refuse to acknowledge that he lost? Almost certainly.

Will Trump blame the fake news media? Absolutely 100%.

Will Trump cal his democratic opponent a criminal? Probably.

Will Trump look for ways to try to stay in office, like for instance call for a re-election due to the "massive voter fraud" that "people" are talking about? Probably.

Will Trump actually have the guts to try to stage a coup for real? For really real? I seriously doubt it. He's a poser, a conman, a phony - not a revolutionary.

I don’t know why so many people are presuming that Trump and the GOP are going to let the election have a clear and unambiguous winner if it’s not them.

I'm reminded of this from the episode "Dish and Dishonesty" from Blackadder III:

Quote
Prince George: I say, Blackadder, what a ghastly (squit?)! He's not going to win, is he?

Edmund: No, sir, because, firstly, we shall fight this campaign on issues, not
personalities. Secondly, we shall be the only fresh thing on the menu. And
   thirdly, of course, we'll cheat.

FDR literally did this in 1940 and 1944, and rigged the 1940 DNC like some sort of mobster boss to “organically” “draft” him. There’s nothing wrong with discussion of repealing the 22nd Amendment.

FDR didn't do this, because it wasn't in the Constitution until after he was out of office.  When FDR did this, it was merely a tradition; now it's a rule and Trump is Constituently obligated to only serve at max two terms.

Yes, there is a HUGE problem discussing repealing this Amendment.  Presidents should not have the option of serving indefinitely.

You're forgetting something. Unless a newly-elected Democratic President is willing to immediately flush his re-election down the toilet, Mr. Trump losing means he's probably going to jail for the rest of his life. Scavengers and thieves can get vicious when cornered.

Nah, democrats are soft. Once Trump is out of office nobody will care about him anymore. I don't see him going to jail at all.

They're already active criminal investigations against Trump on numerous fronts. Both at the federal and New York state level. Even if Congress drop all of its investigations against Trump - - a real possibility for exactly the reason you stated - - I don't see these non Congressional criminal investigations being suddenly dropped.

If he's defeated, trumps only hope to avoid prison time I suspect is to endlessly churn and delay the wheels of Justice long enough that he can suddenly plead ill-health / senility that would make it cruel to imprison him. He's been very good at doing this against civil prosecution's where delay is much more feasible, but I wonder how well his legal team will do in a criminal setting. Particularly because he has a shocking ability to hire absolutely worst least qualified jackasses across-the-board.

I could see a FBI agent tapping Trump's shoulder from behind and saying 'Sir, please come with me' and handcuffing him after the Jan 2021 inauguration is over and the new Democratic president is sworn in.

That would be the most satisfying historical moment of this century. That's why I know it won't happen.

I do every night in my dreams. But a former poster was correct. He'll almost surely refuse to attend the inauguration. Sore loser that he is

I can't imagine the FBI doing anything like that, out of respect for the office (not the man).  And let's face it...if Trump knew he was really facing arrest as soon as his term was up, he'd be on a plane to some other country rather than attending his successor's inauguration.
