I would have voted for Lieberman, but Bush would have won with a larger margin than against Kerry, being that there was less difference between the two candidates.

At the time I would have voted for Lieberman.  Now, it would be a tough choice.  I really despise Lieberman.

Do you mean in the sense that more left-leaning Democrats would be voting either for Nader or the Green Party candidate?

Lieberman would have won.

Despite the hard left being all bitchy, Nader and Cobb pull a collective low total, not changing any states.

But the Jewish vote goes >80% for Lieberman, and moderates support him in large numbers too, leading to a small victory in Florida.

Lieberman/Edwards 279
Bush/Cheney 259

I would support Lieberman/Edwards.

But Bush would probably gain an immediate 1-2% in the pV.  He would thus probably flip Wisconsin.

I believe the electoral key to the race, lay with a candidate who was to the right of Kerry on social issues, but decidedly to the left of Lieberman on foreign policy; while maintaing the Clinton/Gore economic-platform.

Lieberman would have been an absolutely terrible candidate, who would have lost big, but I would have still voted for him.

Bush does better against Lieberman than he does against Kerry.  Bush gets a slightly higher share of independents, liberal turnout is slightly down, and Lieberman is a colorless campaigner.

These factors combine to produce the following result.

Bush/Cheney                  321
Lieberman/Edwards        217

I would definitely vote for Lieberman. At the time of 2004, his 'tough on terror' stances and superior senate record would have delievered him Iowa, Nevada, and possibly Missouri.
