In 1990 the GOP had a serious chance of winning a senate seat from Louisiana for the first time since reconstruction. Their original pick was Ben Bagart, but he dropped out fearing a runoff with David Duke. What if in this alternate timeline Bagart stays in the race, and forces a runoff between J Bennett Johnston and David Duke, and Duke wins. What would happen with Duke in the senate? Would he be expelled?
