Hello Lowell, I grew up here in a part of the old American heartland, but I've stayed here in Lowell, but I've seen what has happened to the middle class and working America by unrestricted trade, and the corporate influence on our capital, and the bloody war on business. I am the son of an immigrant father who ran a laundromat, and the mother who was also from greek stock, but I am an American. and I am a Democrat proud in both of those creeds, for this nation has shepherded tens of millions to its shores, and this party has welcomed those same immigrants to our nation, with open arms.

Two hundred years ago, our Founding Fathers gave us a democracy. It was based upon the simple, yet noble, idea that government derives its validity from the consent of the governed. We were never meant to have American workers rank ninth in the world in wage scales.

We were never meant to have dysfunctional schools or imploding cities or racial disharmony or an environment at risk. America is more than this. We are more than this. Our destiny is greatness and we must return to its fulfillment. Enough of this is Washington avoidance. Enough of this is Washington mediocrity.

Now, after 11 years of Ronald Reagan and George Bush, the record speaks for itself: Falling wages. In 1980, our workers earned the highest wages in the world. Now America ranks 10th. Foreign ownership of industry. Nearly 20% of American manufacturing is now owned by foreign interests. In Japan and Germany, less than 3% of manufacturing is foreign-owned. Foreign-owned commercial real estate includes not just Rockefeller Center, but nearly 50% of downtown Los Angeles, and 40% of downtown Houston. Declining financial strength. In 1980, 2 of the 3 largest banks were American. Now, the largest American bank is ranked 21st. Tripling the national debt. U.S. debt has tripled since 1980, to $3.2 trillion, making us the largest debtor nation in history.

I am a pro-business, pro-jobs, and Pro-Worker President. I am also the first Democrat to run in this years elections, we need a strong, independent voice in Washington, I am that man, not for the Democrats, or the Republicans, but for the Americans. Ladies and Gentlemen, today I have the high privilege of introducing a man very near and dear to me. When I first ran for Congress in 1970, my state was under the control of Governor Ronald Reagan. He promised a new style of conservatism in California, one that would cut spending on the poor by more than 50%. The results were unsurprising. Joblessness increased, crime exploded, veterans went homeless, and hundreds of thousands were forced into poverty by a winner take all economy. I went into Congress because I wanted to fight against the policies of casino style economics at the Federal Level.

Now, fast forward to 1974. That year, California made the right choice, the Democratic choice, by electing Jerry Brown as our Governor. It was like night and day. Jerry went to work immediately. Crime fell, poverty fell. Schools were funded again! He fought a measure by radical Conservatives to criminalize gays and lesbians for merely existing. My friend Jerry did everything in his power to serve the people of California. And I worked at his side.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Jerry Brown is the real deal! He is a change maker from the largest state in the Union. He is a common sense Liberal and a fighter for working people. He knows that the answer to poverty and unemployment aren’t more layoffs and more job cuts. Jerry wants to give millions of Americans a hand up in this struggling economy. He wants to fight for the dignity of work, the right to organize, and the right to strike. Now more than ever, Americans need a man willing to stand up for those rights.

Thank you, Congressman Dellums! First of all, I want to give my sincere gratitude to the folks here at Independence Hall who helped organize this gathering so quickly. The good folks at the SEIU set up the stands here and we’ve got the United Food and Commercial Workers catering this announcement.

Ladies and Gentlemen, we stand at a unique crossroads in history. It’s been twelve years since Ronald Reagan was elected President. In that time, our unions have been halved in strength, workers wages have fallen, and millions of Americans now face the grim reality of poverty. Across this nation, hard working members of the middle and working class can barely get by. Thousands of jobs have been cut at plants across this country. Crime has soared, despite the emphatic promises of Ronald Reagan and George Bush. Unions, once the backbone of this country, have been crushed under the vicious regime of supply side economics.

The reality of Reaganism and its decrepit twin, Bushism, is vast wealth for the few, at the ever increasing poverty of the many. We live in an age where the basic essentials of life are unaffordable for millions of Americans. Home ownership is a dream that few can enjoy. Jobs have been moving out of this country at a frightening rate, all as the wealthy profit at their worker’s expense.

What is to be done? How do we reverse years of hostility and neglect towards working people in this country?

Well folks, I am running for President to fight for working Americans across this country. I pledge today to fight for unions, for workers, and against the interests of the wealthy and the corrupt. I promise to end ‘trickle down’ economics and restore sanity to a corrupt Washington culture that ignores the many in favor of the few.

Folks, what we have is an imbalance of power. The working people of America have no voice in Washington. Large corporations control this country, at the expense of the working class and at the expense of small businesses. Mom and pop stores have closed down in record numbers since 1980, even as corporations grow larger by the year. Small towns see their residents leave for large cities in increasing numbers. Cities, meanwhile, are stripped of vital resources by an increasingly spendthrift Federal Government.

My proposal is simple: take power from the hands of corporations and the wealthy and put it back into the hands of working Americans! Under a Brown Presidency, unions will be restored, cities will be rebuilt, and factories will reopen in America’s heartland! A Brown Administration will reduce the deficit by making the wealthy pay their fair share of taxes. We will give working Americans a better deal, higher paychecks, and a stable future.

I promise to attack crime at the root source, by helping our poorest citizens conquer hopelessness and fear. We will fight discrimination against all Americans, we will fight for the rights of immigrants, and we will oppose unfair trade deals that hurt the working class.

My campaign is 100% of the people, by the people, and for the people! I promise to you today that I will fight for you, and not the special interests in Washington. I will not accept individual donations above $100. I will not be beholden to any corporation or interest group. From day 1, the welfare of all Americans will be my greatest priority.

We need a President that understands we can’t cut our way out of poverty, spend our way out of healthcare, or fire our way out of unemployment. We have to invest in every American and take the fight to the wealthy interests that have corroded our Democracy. My Friends, I am honored to be standing here today with a fellow Senator of mine. This man is a close personal friend of mine and he has proven himself the best man for his state and thus for the Presidency. I am speaking about, of course, Montana Senator Max Baucus. He is from what many would call a Lean Republican state and has represented it in Congress since the very late 70s with impressive wins each time. He is a Senator who doesn't give up his morals for his state and is popular despite that!

My friends, I am giving Senator Baucus my endorsement because I feel as if he is indeed the best man for the job. Some might try and slander him, calling him too conservative for the party, but the last times we ran liberals we lost in landslide elections. We need true moderates to win this election! We need to be able to appeal to the farmer in Kansas who sees no reason to vote for a liberal who threatens all his ideas. We need a moderate to appeal to disaffected Republicans who feel as if the Republican Party isn't for them any longer! With all those ideas, we need a man to create a coalition, one that will work to retake the White House and win us the General Election in November. My friends, I introduce to you, Senator Max Baucus of Montana!

Thank you, Senator Graham. As he said, We can no longer ignore the forgotten men and women of America. These men and women have felt ignored and forgotten in 'Republican' states like the Dakotas or Kentucky and dislike the Democratic Party because they see us as too liberal. A Moderate can appeal to those people and win us the election this year. Indeed, it may seem impossible now but over time, things will begin to change and change drastically.

President Bush was born and raised for most of his life in Connecticut, while I have spent most of my life in my home state of Montana. President Bush claims he is for small town America but he is what many consider a Country Club Republican. In the 1980 Republican Primaries, then candidate George Bush challenged then California Governor Ronald Reagan on his economic policies, calling it "Voodoo Economics". Eight year later, after being Vice President, his mind seemed to change and for the better. Yet, soon, Voodoo Economics as the President once called it will end up failing our country.

Just year, a recession happened that lasted until March of this year and yet Economic Recovery hasn't happened. Jobs should be returning but instead joblessness and unemployment is stagnating or ever so slightly increasing. That should not be happening yet it is. It's because of Voodoo Economics that the Economy is suffering so poorly and yet, President Bush maintains that his ideas still work and are still successful. Well, Mr. President, I believe you are unequivocally wrong on that end.

But enough about President Bush, it is time for me to speak about the Party at large, my party. For the last three elections, I noticed something, we have chosen liberals from states that have a propensity to vote in Moderate Republicans and Liberal Democrats instead of what is truly needed. We need a Candidate that can win a state that has gone to a Republican since the 60s. A Democrat who has won in a consistently Conservative state despite the odds being stacked against him. In case you are wondering, I am that person to be chosen.

Now, as to how we win this re-election, I propose the current 3 point plan with the people of this country, what I call "The Political Treaty with America" :

1. A Guaranteed Universal Basic Income of $500-$750 not for all americans, but for those struggling the worst under this recession. For the Citizen who is coming close to losing their home due to not acquiring enough cash or being unemployed and for the Farmer who, despite all their sales, can barely make enough to continue living on the farm and update their equipment. It should be noted that not all of America wants this idea and I should respect that but we cannot deny that we need to help those in serious need and we cannot deny this adds some relief to these families. In order to pay for this program, I will increase the taxes of those earning more or about $750 Million by 10% and anyone earning $500 Million or more by 5%. Any funds left over from will be distributed back to the American citizen who wants it while 7% will be kept in reserve for our Economy. This plan will be attempted for four years and, if unsuccessful, will be removed and repealed immediately.

2. The Creation of Congressional Term Limits. It is clear Americans have a healthy dissatisfaction with Congress with some incumbents having been in since the 50s and 60s, more than 30 and 40 years and yet they have done little to nothing for most citizens in the country, in their state and district, only in congress for themselves. It is time this ends. I propose giving Senators a three or four term limit on the Senate and a 9 or 12 term limit on the House, with a Grandfather Clause stating that all Incumbents still in by the time of the passing of this plan will be allowed to run for as many more terms as they'd like if they already passed the Term threshold. I doubt the fact that if I get into office,congress will push to make this happen so I ask on you, the American people, to call your congressperson and demand their support on this action for your vote in the next election.

3. Bring our troops home. The Cold War is finally over and with it, the need to be in so many places all at once. We are not the world's police force. We cannot and should not interfere in the affairs of other countries anymore. There was a negative effect by that in Iran in the 70s after we intervened in their domestic affairs in the 50s. There are bound to be negatives than positives should we keep doing it. Instead of putting boots on the ground and intervening in every little war, we should remain neutral. Instead, we focus on a bombing campaign and limited UN intervention. That way, we can minimize our own losses and make sure a mother can mourn the loss of their child again.

These are 3 points of a large package plan that I hope to reveal more and more of on my Presidential Campaign. These are 3 points of many that will help us win the election this year.
