SENATE RESOLUTION

to support the Registrar General of Atlasia in her actions in office

Be it Resolved in the Atlasian Senate Assembled,

Section 1. Title
1. This resolution shall be referred to as "Resolution to support Registrar General Peebs"

Section 2. The resolution

WHEREAS, the Registrar General of Atlasia, Peebs, has been sued in court over her impartiality in office

WHEREAS, Congress does not find the actions of Registrar General to have been done in an unjust way or under a double standard

It is therefore RESOLVED, that Congress formally recommends Registrar General Peebs to stay in her position and retained as Registrar General

FURTHER RESOLVED, that Congress finds petitioner Ben Kenobi formulated his request to the court in a deliberately mean and discriminatory way to annoy the Registrar General

Basically, I consider the questions raised by Ben Kenobi to be a mostly political question and not a judicial one. As such it follows that the reaction to Kenobi's accusation of bias should be decided by Congress (and the President) and not the Supreme Court.

Originally I thought about introducing articles of impeachment against Peebs with the intention of the impeachment failing unanimously or near unanimously. However instead I have decided to introduce a resolution to expliticly support Peebs' actions in office and call for President Griffin to retain her (not like Peebs being fired was even remotely a possibility)

This resolution also formally condemns Ben Kenobi's formulation of his court petition, where he deliberately misgendered Peebs repeatedly and on purpose.

This probably isn't my place to speak, but here goes: people like Ben only care about the facts that suit them, which are quite often the wrong ones to look for. It honestly makes me wonder sometimes. If I were a little older and thus fully transitioned, with my "legal status", as well as just about everything but what some doctor saw a while back, being female, would he still feel my assigned sex to be relevant to the Court, seeing as it doesn't reflect my legal status (since that was his excuse in OTL)? Part of me wants to believe that the answer is no, but the rest of me knows that his feelings don't care about facts.

Or if the roles were reversed. Let's say I'm a cis woman who really ing hates trans people and he's a trans man serving as RG. Would he simply let me call him by she/her pronouns or would it piss him off just as it did me? I can only assume it'd be the latter. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

I have given Ben a great deal more latitude then some because of his ability to drive discussion/activity/controversy and to a point that can be helpful. But everything has its reasonable limit and as I have said so many times in many different places and context, this is a game built on voluntary participation, with everyone operating in close quarters. There are limits beyond which you create a harmful level of toxicity that is dangerous to the game and therefore it is incumbent upon people to exercise a level of decency and respect towards each other lest we do great harm to the rather narrow participation base (relative to the historically large population) and cause them to want to leave.
