I think the real thing people are missing here is that Trump is on record asking for help from a foreign source to investigate a political rival for personal political gain.  THAT is the smoking gun, IMO.

This is exactly right.

She's right, this was a memo, Imagine how bad the real transcript is.

Im amazed that some folks are actually defending the president's actions here. This is a White House-prepared memo of a 30 minute call. It is likely that there are additional, potentially much more damaging information to come out about this call. AND this call makes up only a fraction of the whistle-blowers complaint. Those defending the president now (for things that are clearly not defensible) are certain to get burned even worse soon. It's all going to come out sooner or later.

The transcript is exactly what I thought it would be. This is worse than Russia at this point. It's been established he solicited help from a foreign government and the administration broke the law trying to cover it up. That he released it after he got caught hiding it is not a defense. I was thinking this would still be too obscure for the public to understand but the transcript is short and most of it is skippable. All you need to read is a few sentences to really "get it".

Yup, this is what I have been saying.

Yeah. This is a "bloody glove" situation. It's pretty obvious what has happened. Just like in the "bloody glove" situation, that doesn't necessarily mean that a particular outcome is assured or inevitable.

Yeah, because the defense in that case successfully distracted the jury from the obvious facts and got an acquittal based on the (unrelated) flaws of the prosecutors as people.

If Congress doesn't demand the tapes of the calls, Democrats deserve to lose the election and the House.

Democrats are so desperate to impeach Trump they’re now clinging to something without all the facts. Predictable.

Someone please insert the "sweating like a dog" gif here.

Romney's softening up:

Quote
Sen. Mitt Romney of Utah, however, sounded a note of concern, telling NBC News that he found the call summary "troubling in the extreme, deeply troubling."

Asked if he supported the impeachment proceedings, the former Republican presidential nominee said he wouldn't give advice to Pelosi, but noted that the Senate was continuing to look into the whistleblower complaint.

Another statement of absolutely zero substance from Mittens. What a coward.

The White House accidentally emailed its talking points on Trump's Ukraine call to House Democrats.
From CNN's Jim Acosta

The White House accidentally emailed its talking points about the President's call with the Ukrainian leader to House Democrats.

The talking points include lines like: "Let’s be clear, there was no quid pro quo for Ukraine to get US aid in exchange for looking into Biden or his son."

The White House later tried to recall the email message.

LMAO!

Of course they would. They're cowards.

Maybe Dems can flip this on them and run ads like "Is your Senator one of the 60% of Republicans who is lying about his loyalty to our President?"

Can we get a list of the 23 Democrats who haven’t yet endorsed the impeachment inquiry?

I'm not sure of all of them, but Collin Peterson and Tulsi Gabbard are opposed to impeachment. So is Jeff Van Drew, from what I've heard. Henry Cuellar, Kendra Horn, and Joe Cunningham have not taken a stance either, at this juncture.

I will say also, that it is interesting how, on here and elsewhere, the reaction to this whole affair has been colored by partisan lenses. Democrats insist that Trump committed clearly impeachable, criminal offenses, and that he must be removed from office now. Republicans, on the other hand, are defending the man, and claiming that there is "nothing there", and that its the Bidens who we should be concerned about. This lends to my belief that this matter will intensify this country's polarization. I am also still of the viewpoint that the House will impeach him, but that the Senate will acquit.

Did you expect anything different? We could probably have a systematic genocide going on and the Senate would still not do anything
