Anyway, now that everyone who wants to has had a chance to poke fun at Trump, the current anthem, or both, the answer is no. Our national anthem, national motto, and other similar things are codified into law in Chapter 3 of Title 36. The only thing Trump could change about our national symbols, if he wanted to, would be the arrangement of the 50 stars in the flag as that is specified by executive order.

Agreed —in my mind it undercuts the significance of the entire song, which reminds us that liberty requires sacrifice and our lives are lived "not for ourselves alone," the very themes that would make Battle Hymn an excellent national anthem.
