Republicans also lost several seats, but gained others b/c redistricting.

Notable flips to Dems including MD-02 and MD-08 (Connie Morella), GA-03, and TN-04.


Dems also got some new seats for themselves like NC-13 and AZ-07.

Going back over a century, it doesn’t look like the party holding the White House has ever successfully defended all their own House seats in a midterm election.

The party holding the White House hasn’t successfully defended all their own Senate seats since the Democrats did it in 1934.
