State Opening
of the Fifth Council of Lincoln

Verum Potestatem Facit Lex
October 27, 2019

Good day to all of you, Esteemed Councillors, Mr. Speaker, Learned Justice, and all citizens of our great and awesome region. Today we gather here to open a new legislature in a ceremony that has become our tradition, and that is much greater than any of us sitting here today. I have started every State Opening so far by telling the incoming Councillors how excited I was to work with them for a very productive term, and yet I am afraid I cannot tell you that today. I am leaving for Nyman to represent you in our Senate in a few days' time, but my hope for an active session and for cooperation among all of you, cooperation that will strengthen our Lincoln, is as strong as ever.

My stewardship of our fair region has been one that I hope will be seen favorably when none of us are in these halls of power. I have tried to ensure a region that runs smoothly and works fairly, and that is the mission I leave for you now that I'll be gone. I have seen many legislatures come and go, great, hardworking politicians accomplish many successful ventures, and I see that promise in you, Councillors. My mission for you is that for these next three months, with whoever is serving as our Governor, you work hard for our region and you try to produce bills meant to help every hardworking Lincolnite.

Councillor S019, a hardworking man of broad vision and great perseverance, has asked to form a government in my name. Now therefore do I ask you, Councillors, does he have the confidence of this great chamber? Vote AYE, NAY, or ABSTAIN.

Thank you, Councillors! S019 will receive my appointment as Chancellor. I ask the Chancellor-designate to officially nominate a Speaker.
