In 1881, President Garfield survives his assassination attempt and wins re-election in 1884 against Grover Cleveland in a landslide while also ensuring his reforms for Southern Blacks take place no matter what the Dems say. In 1888, Benjamin Harrison defeats Senators McDonald of Indiana and defeats Bryan in 1892.

In 1885, Robert Todd Lincoln retires from his post as Secretary of War to be replaced by Harrison and is elected to the Senate in New York.

In 1896, Senator Lincoln is convinced to run for the Republican Nomination and gets it over Vice President McKinley and Sec of State Blaine. His opponent is Senator John W. Daniel of Virginia, who defeats Bryan and Senator Blackburn for the nomination.

Who is their running mates, what is the campaign like, and what is the result in the EC and NPV? Closest and tipping point states?

I think Lincoln wins just about everywhere except for the south.
