1. Garfield survives his Assassination because the doctors stop effing around and take the bullet out while using clean tools.

2. Chester Arthur is nominated by the Republicans in 1884 and RTL is nominated for VP. Both defeat the Dem Ticket. In 1886, Arthur dies on schedule and RTL becomes President.

3. Henry Ford wins his 1918 Senate Bid and slowly begins to move politics in America towards Fascism while setting up his own political party behind the scenes.

Which of these would make a good novel to read?

Option 3 with a "good guy" - hero antagonist - who starts off as a nameless everyman. The others would only appeal to hardcore US history nerds.

The thing is, the story is likely to become a dystopia as Ford is a very smart man and the 20s and 30s were brilliant times for dictatorships to rise across the globe. America herself just barely escaped that prospect. Though, the "hero" antagonist could be a POV Journalist who is attempting to stop Ford's rise to power.
