The term "gun deaths" includes any deaths caused by a gun, e.g., suicide, accidents, etc.; it does not necessarily have to be murder.

Plus, "law-abiding" doesn't mean much until we know what the laws are... if self-defense is applied very liberally, ie if it's legal to shoot someone who walks up your driveway to ask you for directions because you thought he might be wanting to harm you, you still have people getting shot. Meanwhile, "everybody is a criminal" doesn't mean "everybody commits murders". "Being a criminal" is basically an attitude to life, nothing more.
So, summary - I was being silly, I was silly on purpose, but I wasn't as silly as any of the knee-jerk option A people.
