And here is why it's so hard to sympathize with the alt-left. They don't care what local people, whose lives are affected by Sawant's election and subsequent votes, think. They only care about vicariously making a statement against "evil capitalism", "the establishment", etc..
Just like the Trumpists don't care if the US goes to hell, as long their dear leader triggers the libs.

Coming from someone who has the same priority as the Trumpists, I'll take that as a compliment.

And what about the "local people" who actually voted to reelect Sawant? Are their voices completely irrelevant just because they reject corporate interests, especially the abhorrent practices that Amazon used in this campaign? I know it may be hard for you to believe, but not every constituency views capitalism in a positive light.

And it's pretty disgusting that you're creating an equivalence between leftists and the alt-right. Most leftists/socialists believe in racial justice instead of defending white supremacists.

I know it's hard to comprehend for those who live in a black and white world but there are many people who agree with Sawant on Amazon but still voted against her. And they did so not because they are corrupt or stupid but because her character and inability to work even with people who were supposedly her allies made her ineffective.
Just like Obama said a few days ago, not every progressive is an angel and not every conservative is evil (and vice-versa).

Again, I posted an article from a local leftie paper where they explain why Sawant was the only Amazon-targeted councilor who came close to defeat. Perhaps you all should take 5 minutes and read it (which is painfully obvious you didn't) before coming here and throw a hissy fit just because some people don't think that she is the best thing since sliced bread.

I'd say that there are far more people who dislike Sawant but voted for her as essentially a vote against Amazon's attempt to buy the city council.

I don't doubt it. Which is why I said than any semi-competent politician sitting in an ultra-progressive district like hers would have exploited the Amazon situation and cruise to reelection.
But she is so inept and toxic that barely won instead.

Well, speaking as someone who really didn't think it was possible for Beshear to win, I'll eat some humble pie. I was desd wrong about this race, and I'm thrilled that (it looks like) Kentucky gave Bevin the boot. People can quote my old posts and laugh at them to their heart's content. I deserve it. Congrats to the people who predicted Beshear would win, and I'll remember this when making predictions in the future.

I eagerly await Red Eagle Politics's video on how Atlas got this election wrong. Smiley

Got it wrong too, could care less.  Beshear is a R in half the states anyways

So, Beshear will be sworn in as Governor next week (Tuesday), but the results out of KY are still not certified.

The same in MS.

Only LAs results are official so far and they voted later ... Tongue

The KY results are now also certified, which means all 3 states have done so:

Compared with election night, both Beshear and Bevin gained a few hundred votes.

Nice 55 point swing against the GOP in Knott county.
A taste of the Suburbaggedon coming in 2020.

Knott County, Kentucky is definitely not suburban.

Indeed, and I didn't claim so. With a population of 13,000 it barely qualifies as rural-exurban.

But all signs point to suburbs witnessing similar sky-high swings against the GOP.

If you really believe all suburbs will swing 55 points against the GOP, please delete your account.

Fun with numbers

Jefferson+Fayette

Beshear--259958
Bevin--124655

Beshear +135303

Everything else

Beshear--449932
Bevin--580099

Bevin +130167

2015

Jefferson+Fayette

Conway--150452
Bevin-- 102215

Conway +48237

Everything else

Conway--276168
Bevin--409159

Bevin +132091

So, outside of the big two, Bevin actually won by a wider vote margin than in 2015
