I was wondering if there was any good statistical data on the impact of the divisive primaries of the GOP in 1976 & the Democrats in 1980.  In particular, was there a decent enough chunk of the Reagan '76 vote that hated Ford so much that they crossed over to Carter in the general?  And in 1980, how much of the Kennedy vote that hated Carter either voted Anderson or stayed home (maybe some voted for Reagan?)
