Country A: Here, the economic situation is best described as egalitarian and prosperous. Everyone has enough food to eat, have a strong roof over their heads, and generally live a happy life. On the other hand not many people have significant disposable income due to the economic situation. And no, this does not necessarily mean taxes are high; it is very hard to build a large business due to fierce competition. You live in this nation as an ordinary person.

Country B: Income distribution in this nation is very unequal. A small upper class controls almost all the large businesses and thus are naturally live a very luxurious lifestyle. Everyone else live much more spartan lifestyles, barely able to afford three square meals a day and to live in large Soviet-style apartment blocks. It is best described as an oligarchy and you are one of those oligarchs.

Other than that, politically both are liberal democracies, both have similar culture, and both are otherwise identical.

If an oligarch, option B of course.  Otherwise, option A.

Country A.

I have no desire to be anything but middle class.  But if you tried to take away my political rights I'd wage war.

Country B, Philip, is an accurate description of conditions under laissez-faire capitalism or the status quo in America.  There is nothing 'socialist' about it.

I would choose B, because to be rich in a capitalist society is to have all the non-rich as your abject slaves.  Of course they might slit my throat at some point, but it would be fun while it lasted.

I based country A on what Sweden is in real life. Country B is based on present-day Russia.

ROTFL. I live in Sweden, it's nothing like that. You should get to know countries better first. I pass home-less people every day on my way to school. There are few principal differences between Sweden and the US. While it's true that the Swedish middle class is relatively impoversihed, we definitely have rich people. And the rich here ARE rich. Especially compared to the poor.

Well, B sounds pretty much like living in the Soviet Union... or modern day Russia (there really is not much of a difference).  I guess A.
