Looks like he's running "for real" now, as he's filing with the FEC:

Just a note on the thread title, it's MichAEl Bloomberg, not MichEAl Bloomberg.

That's not to say that my name is Michael and that people get this wrong all the time, which never ceases to astound me because it's such a common name, but I just thought I'd point that out before someone else who is definitely not me is triggered by it.

Bloomberg is going on air in the West Palm Beach Market (where Mar-a-Lago is located) over Thanksgiving:

I believe these will be his first TV ads.

Bloomberg preparing what might be the biggest one week ad buy in campaign history:

https://www.politico.com/news/2019/11/22/michael-bloomberg-ad-buy-2020-election-072893

Quote
The ads will begin airing as soon as Monday. One of the first ad buys was spotted in the West Palm Beach, Fla., media market, according to Advertising Analytics. As of 2:30 p.m., Advertising Analytics tracked buys in 32 different states across the country, with $19.4 million in reservations so far.

“This buy is MASSIVE,” Ben Taber, an analyst for the television ad tracking firm Advertising Analytics, said in an email to POLITICO. "I think it‘s going to be the biggest buy of all time," he wrote. Then-President Barack Obama had a $30 million, one-week long buy in 2012, but Taber said this "seems like this might pass that for largest buy in one week."

And he's just getting started, this is just pocket change for him.

The ad buy comes one day after Bloomberg filed a statement with the Federal Election Commission creating a presidential campaign committee. The former New York City mayor has plans to spend as much as $500 million this election.

Note this article has been updated; it's now $34 million across 46 states.

He's in for good now.

What's his effect on the race now that he (and his endless money) are in?

None, Biden will be the nominee. Warren is done, and blacks and Latinos arent gonna vote for LGBT Buttigieg nominee; subsequently, Superdelegates have endorsed Biden

If there will be a lot, lot of infighting between Biden, Warren, Pete or Bernie to March and/or these early primaries (IA, NH, NV, North or South Carolina - I don't remember what Carolina) will be deadlocked with no clear winners or race leaders to Super Tuesday, than Mike Bloomberg can come in as a compromise candidate. He must not be a frontrunner since then, but he can simply occupy like, say, 5 or 7% of support and to be a wedge since now.

the fake logo from a week or two ago fits the loony idea that he:

-is what America wants

I definitely like the platform he's running on; pragmatic solutions offered by someone who has been an elected chief executive and very successful businessman. If he wins the nomination in an upset (very, very unlikely), I'd back him enthusiastically. Nevertheless, I hope Joe Biden beats the challenge back quite quickly and Mike Bloomberg supports his general election campaign (or any Democratic nominee).

Does he want to turn himself into a punching bag for Sanders and Warren?
