This moderate would unconditionally back Bloomberg.

He won't win, but I'm ready, willing, and able to go down with this ship.

This might be good news because the chances of Biden's nomination are probably going to drop--he's a big enough name that he can probably split the vote, or at least siphon off enough to pull him below the top spot.

This will only help Biden, Bloomberg will reassure Dems that running up deficits with Medicare for isnt the best way to go. Taxes on rich when they go up should be distributed to all social programs like Housing, comprehensive immigration reform and student loan forgiveness for College work only

Like, seriously, someone please explain to me how Bloomberg is trading at 13c on predict it and 7% on betfair.

Looks like Bloomberg's already making campaign expenditures!

Anyway, this will either have no meaningful impact a la Schultz (likely) or it will weaken candidates like Biden and Buttigieg. I'm cool with it.

The Communist class should be scared now that Bloomberg is ready to fight for democracy and capitalism.

Please explain how Sanders is a communist. I hear the word tossed around a lot for him, but no one has been able to explain why.

Wealth confiscation is a communist policy. "Billionaires shouldn't exist" is an endorsement of wealth confiscation.
Then I'm a proud communist.

I doubt he'll have much of an impact at all.

Why do people call him entitled?
I can definetely understand disagreeing with him especially because he doesn't have good policies for a Democrat but he definitely helped the Democrat party enough in the 2018 midterms unlike people like Harris/Booker/Gillibrand who just wanted to act the most #woke during the Kavanaugh trials while Bloomberg probably helped Democrats gain half a dozen house seats IIRC.

He even said in 2016 he wouldn't run 3rd party because of Trump. Its hardly entitlement unlike what see from Steyer who just wasted 2 years spamming impeachment ads. He definitely doesn't deserve any progressive support or liberal support which is the Democrat base but I would say he has earned the chance to try out his luck in the primary. I definetely don't like him at all especially if I was a progressive but there is not a serious amount of entitlement here.

You know what people like Gillibrand/Booker/Harris/Warren were doing. They were just raising up money for their presidential run soaking up money from possible donors during the 2018 midterms. Just imagine how much easier it would be if Bill Nelson had those extra few million.

Bloomberg is pretty much the opposite of me on every major issue, so needless to say I will never be supporting him. He also basically has no shot at being anything other than the candidate for wealthy people to assuage their "consciences." He's DOA for any national election.

There isnt a dime's worth of difference than Bloomberg and Biden. If he offers a Yang program like 1K Per person, then he can take off. But, he wont do that, thus, Biden will win.

He honestly is a terrible fit for the primary this year. The environment is far too populist/lefty for him and our political discourse has been degraded far too much by Trump for the 'business billionaire' lane to ever work again. Frankly, he was a far more competent and intelligent mayor than De Blasio and has actually done more on the business side than Steyer so its kind of unfortunate he'll be lumped in with those two. Maybe he'll get to 5% or so, he probably deserves more, but he'll fail.

More importantly, the vol surface from the OVDV function on the terminal looks nice but can't be manipulated or turned into anything useful. Maybe he should get someone on that instead.

What exactly is the logic here? Democratic primary voters are growing disenchanted with the 76 year-old white, centrist front runner, so seizing on this perceived opening, the 77 year-old white, centrist man is going to try to fill the void?

Agree with this. However, at least his brain is working properly, unlike Biden's. (On the other side, he is far less charismatic than Biden, and has almost no working class appeal I reckon, unlike Biden.) I do think he could chop substantially into Biden's coalition however, because Biden's coalition is so broad. He won't get Biden's African Americans or working class, but he could get a considerable chunk of his retiree and moderate supporters, including never Trump Republicans and independents.

LOL! That's what we still needed, an 80 year old dude with a few billions on the bank who creates zero enthusiasm. Seriously, if he really launches a full scale campaign, why is he doing this? I mean, he can't really expect to go anywhere?

At least Biden still can, to some degree, play his "muh blue collar" card. How is another New York billionaire, that's also a relative newcomer to the party, going to counter Trump? This thing could've worked for the GOP, but it won't work for the Democrats.

The odds of Bloomberg winning the nomination are so small anyway, and I'm fine with another person to split the DLC/neoliberal vote.

If he takes votes from Biden, that's fine with me. We must avert Biden's nomination.

Just LOL. Just when i thought i would back Trump never in all cases, there is one scenario where i would actively campaign for Trump.

Let's hope he does well in the primaries, he won't take votes from Warren or Sanders.

In theory Bloomberg is not running yet.  He is just registering for the AL primary not to miss the deadline in case he decides to run.  His entire logic makes no sense.  Him running will just take votes from Biden and make it more likely that Warren will emerge the winner which he claims cannot beat Trump.

His candidacy will go nowhere.

Like Steyrer, he will launch tons of ads in IA and elsewhere, will briefly get 3-5% there and then fall back to 2% again in the IA caucuses because Democrats don’t want any billionaires as their candidate.

Then he drops out again in disgrace.

Bloomberg has qualified for Alabama's primary.  He's actually running.
