Bloomberg is the perfect foil for Bernie Sanders - allowing Bernie to play the underdog against the billionaire trying to buy the Democratic primary. Bloomberg is counterproductive for moderates in the Democratic Party and should have stuck to funding Dems down the ticket.

If Biden was smart, he would aggressively attack Bloomberg from the left on economic issues to portray himself as something more than "a moderate".

Despite binds vow to pass a public option, the Overton window of this campaign makes him seem like he's two steps to the right of trump

dropping out?

There's a good response from someone who identifies themselves as having retired a few years ago from a career in commercial TV, who explains that political ads can be, and often are, purchased at the last minute. While sometimes such last-minute buys have to come at an inflated premium to bump other previously paid customers, it's not like Bloomberg can't absorb that additional cost.

So while I would love nothing more, I caution against reading too much into it.

I've seen loads of Bloomberg ads here in northeast Florida. In fact, he's the only candidate who's ads i've seen.

American Samoan chief Fa’alagiga Nina Tua’au-Glaude has endorsed Bloomberg. Bloomberg has put a lot of focus on AS in an attempt to pick off delegates. Will it pay off? Yes. I mean uhh, we'll see!

He might as well just make a deal with a re-elected Trump then.

This man is easily the most malicious presence within the Democratic primary. Openly seeking a contested convention, even though it dramatically undermines party unity, for the sake of stroking a delusion that Democrats would be eager to rally behind a billionaire oligarch who possesses all of Trump's flaws and has spent most of his life as a Republican. Good thing the establishment seems to be rallying behind Biden now that the other "moderate" lane alternatives have dropped out. Say what you will about him, but at least Biden isn't an out-of-touch, vainglorious billionaire who thinks he can buy his way to the presidency off of his immense fortune, on top of actually being a Democrat.

F**k Bloomberg, he is absolutely cancerous.

He is finished. Never should have blown $400 million

He has an estimated net-worth of 60 billion.

If the median American family spent the equivalent sum, based on their net-worth of $97,300 in an attempt to buy the presidency they would be spending $648. Bloomberg is attempting to buy the presidency of The United States for the price of a budget flat screen TV at Best Buy.
...and even that is a poor analogy since that family would actually notice that missing $648, whereas Bloomberg could literally spend $59 billlion on the election and it wouldn't change his life one iota.

The fact that he knows he has no chance but is still planning on staying in until the convention is downright pathetic. What an egotistical, delusional man. In what world would Michael f***ing Bloomberg be chosen at a brokered convention? He said his goal was to make sure the Dem nominee could beat Trump. Making a brokered convention more likely doesn’t do that Mike

The same could be said of Biden. He is also a bought & paid politician funded by lobbyists & Super-pac dark money. He also wants a contested convention. Biden is also totally out of touch & possess many of Trump's flaws like a long history of trying to cut Social Security, working for the big banks but also has Hillary's fatal flaws like NAFTA & Iraq War which make him unelectable in the Mid-west vs Trump.

Biden's only way forward is a contested convention which will undermine party unity otherwise he would have dropped out & endorsed Sanders.

Bloomberg has actually been a registered Democrat for most of his life. He was only a Republican from 2001-2007.

Bloomberg has actually been a registered Democrat for most of his life. He was only a Republican from 2001-2007.

Those were the worst years for anyone to be a Republican.

Not so bad in NYC though, for a local politician. Pataki was governor, and Guiliani was mayor (the latter was getting good press at the time after 9/11).

Bloomberg notoriously outspent his opponents in NYC. He spent $75 million in 2001 and a little bit more in 2005 (his private funds), setting records for a non-presidential election. His opponents, in contrast, used a public campaign-finance program centered on donations, which had a limit on how much money they could raise.

In 2001 Bloomberg was saved by 911.  Before 911 he was way behind in the polls and en route to defeat.  Then 911 response reset the race and Giuliani got a lot credit for effective response which he then campaigned hard for Bloomberg and got him across the finishing line.  Bloomberg should really think Giuliani for kicking off his political career.

Nice how that Tweet cuts off the last part of the exchange.

"You're in a Cuban neighborhood, so you gotta, you know"

The "here" is evidently referring to the specific neighborhood they're in, where (according to Bloomberg) all the locals say "Tejas"

What pisses me off about Bloomberg so much is that he claims credit for 911 recovery.

That was ALL Giuliani and Pataki. Not him. I've roleplayed in election games as Rudy Giuliani more than 3 times and I know plenty about how he blunted the impact of the attacks. Bloomboy was only riding on his coattails.

God he really is just plain awful. What an entitled scumbag.

I saw Bloomberg's interview with Scott Pelley on 60 Minutes, and part of the interview was conducted in his childhood home, which he still owns (though I highly doubt that he actually lives there-he probably holds on to the home for publicity purposes). And he comes across as arrogant and snobbish, just with his manner of speaking. He obviously believes that the world revolves around him, that he is the savior the Democratic Party needs, and that he is entitled to the Presidency (i.e. he's been "preparing for the job" for 20 years and no one else has the experience necessary to handle it, ignoring that Joe Biden has been in public office for over half a century and was Vice President!).

Had Giuliani not disgraced himself with the Ukraine quagmire, he would still have a very high reputation with broad swaths of people, especially on this forum.
