If you were wondering why a sizable share of Democrats still believes in Schiff's lies even after Mueller's report, here is an answer. Because it's working.

Roll Eyes

Cook Political Senate and Governors Editor

If Mike goes up after yesterday's debate, ya'll know why Roll Eyes

Yup, it's despicable how he's trying to capitalize on these ads. Mr. Stop-and-frisk didn't even endorse Obama in 2008. 2012 endorsement was only at the very last minute. He called Obamacare a disaster and opposed minimum wage hike. I'm not buying his apologies for stop and frisk and harassment either. Hopefully the debate helped to put a spotlight on his many problems. I'm still somewhat hopeful one of Biden, Butti or Warren gets nominated, but if this dude and Sanders are the last men standing, I'm with Sanders. At least he's been consistent and doesn't imply Obama endorsed him.

I think Bloomberg has made a huge strategic mistake by disowning stop and frisk. Two reasons: first, by denouncing his most widely known policy as a failure, it directly undermines the cornerstone claim of his campaign, that he is above all a competent manager who gets results. Second, in politics (and in business and entertainment), what you are widely known for is your brand; your policies and actions are what draw people to you in the first place. If you destroy the essentials of your brand, you destroy your appeal and make yourself a weak, unattractive, featureless void. The only thing worse than having a bad (i.e. polarizing) brand is having no brand at all.

You need to own what you've done in politics. Apologize if it is strategic to do so, but only if it's not possible to spin your history as a positive. Never disclaim what can be spun to your advantage. If Bloomberg were the clever politician he makes himself out to be, he'd spin stop and frisk as a positive. If I were advising him, I'd have him say something like this:

"I was mayor of an incredibly diverse city, which unfortunately means the majority of our criminals were people of color, as were the majority of our victims. While most of our criminals were people of color, the vast majority of people of color were ordinary, law-abiding citizens. Citizens who lived in fear and despised the rampant crime on their streets. They asked me for help, and I did what had to be done. Stop and frisk was messy, yes, but it was strong, and it was effective. We cut murders of people of color in half. We took thousands of illegal guns off the street. Politicians love to talk about gun control, but I'm the only one on this stage who has done the hard work of actually reducing gun violence. Most people in my city understand and appreciate that I fought for them. Polls show most people of color in New York City support my policy because, for the first time, communities of color are as safe as rich white neighborhoods. No one should have to live in fear of violence just because of the amount of money in their pocket or color of their skin."

That would have certainly been an improvement

If you're black and latino I can destroy your 4th amendment right against illegal search and seizure because I'm such a badass crime fighter.

I'm not really sure that works in 2020 when much of the Democratic party is taking a critical look at itself and its own culpability in criminal justice reform and racial injustice.

The real problem is that "stop and frisk" was a policy for white politicians to show how tough they were on crime to white voters. Bloomberg didn't care about the hundreds of thousands of innocent black and latino men stopped each year because the policy was about white voters fear of black criminals. This is a real truth that the media won't speak.

So glad this guy was squashed like a bug tonight.

I'm not fond of billionaires running for office, but does this "communications director" have a name? Because my google-fu is turning up less confirmation than for the average Donald Trump word vomit.

Arick Wierson.

Thank you. His Wikipedia bio confirms his assistance to Bolsonaro. But it also states he stopped working for Bloomberg in 2009. Which makes the original tweet rather misleading. "Bloomberg's former communications director advised Jair Bolsonaro’s election campaign" just doesn't quite have the same punch.

Here's the relevant story, Bloomberg surrogate was PR guru for Brazil’s extreme-right leader Bolsonaro  He is promoting Bloomberg and trashing Sanders in public, but doesn't seem to have an official affiliation to the campaign.

The one thing reading the above article makes clear to me is just how damaged our democracy is. That CNN allows a known propagandist who works for fascists to appear on on national news to share his opinions on politics is like having a known poisoner and assassin adding ingredients to your dinner.

Let's dispel once and for all with this fiction that Michael Bloomberg knows what he is doing.

He has no idea what he's doing.

Bloomberg's performance yesterday was embarrassing. Not only for himself, but for the millions of Democratic primary voters polling seems to suggest that he has. After spending months pumping money into ads, it's insulting that he would put so little effort into his debate performance. Billions of dollars of ads aren't going to combat wall to wall media coverage talking about a Bloomberg collapse. As a Democrat, it would be embarrassing to call myself such under a Bloomberg nomination. No wonder he's losing against every one of his primary rivals one on one.

Mike Bloomberg is a Republican Trojan horse deployed in a Democratic primary race.

Pete and Co. need to hammer this into the heads of voters the next 2 weeks.

Why would Democratic voters want a general election between 2 Republicans ?

The lizard-man is going to get increasingly desperate as he craters due to him being exposed for the psychopath he is. We won't elect an arrogant billionaire, ever. Republicans obviously have no problem with the idea, but we're Democrats, we're so much better than that.

Bloomberg has fallen from 31% to 19% on predictit over the last hour and a half.

Hopefully he is not betting on himself....

Could be an "Odds Bet" which was a tactic I learned from an old friend where you bet against the house on the Craps table, stack up some chips on one side of the table, so when the rake comes out you are actually winning...

Strategy takes a stash of cash to handle the swings, but in our drive from OR to Seattle, we hit multiple Casinos and with my friends BS Math Degree combined with his gambling skills, we somehow end up paying for all of our Hotels, Drinks, & Food....

Now in the gamblin' market there is another racket.... you bet against yourself to make some money....

Naturally this is an occasion, where if you money from others to fix the game, next thing you know, there might be some dudes in non-police uniforms coming a callin'

Not accusing the Mayor of any such activities, since honestly do believe him to be a decent man, more worried about some of the cronies that worked for him as Mayor, and quite frankly De Blasio is probably the most honest Mayor in NYC in decades....

Again, feel a bit bad for Bloomberg since the Op-Research all essentially whacked him at the same time, but hey welcome to a Democratic Party debate where you gotta expect as a Billionaire you are gonna get hit hard.

If Bloomberg is betting on himself, it's to increase the perception that he's a strong candidate, not so that he can get 0.001% richer or whatever.

1) That tweet doesn’t say anything about him actually releasing anybody from an NDA but even IF it did:
2) Now do the other 60+ who have NDAs.
