His candidacy will go nowhere.

Like Steyrer, he will launch tons of ads in IA and elsewhere, will briefly get 3-5% there and then fall back to 2% again in the IA caucuses because Democrats don’t want any billionaires as their candidate.

Then he drops out again in disgrace.

https://www.cnn.com/2019/11/08/politics/bloomberg-alabama-democratic-primary/index.html

Wolfson also told CNN in a statement that the former New York City mayor plans to skip the first four primary contests.
"If we run, we are confident we can win in states voting on Super Tuesday and beyond, where we will start on an even footing," Wolfson said in a statement that was first reported by The Washington Post.
"But the late timing of our entry means that many candidates already have a big head start in the four early states, where they've spent months and months campaigning and spending money. We have enormous respect for the Democratic primary process and many friends in those states, but our plan is to run a broad-based, national campaign."

This strikes me as a pretty unusual move, anyone have a justification for this? Only thing I can think of is he doesn't want to play spoiler to Joe Biden but even then is he really considering that late to still be holding out for him?

How do you think he’s no spoiler for Uncle Joe when Biden’s best states are coming up on Super Tuesday ?

Would be better if Bloomberg, Steyrer and Biden all drop out, let other more competent people do the job and donate 100 Mio. $ to the DNC for a 50-state GE campaign ...

I’m pretty sure Democratic voters have virtually zero appetite for electing an old billionaire as their candidate.

The direction is clearly moving in favour of the more leftist wing of the party (Warren/Sanders), who are now benefitting even more from Bloomberg’s run, and a centrist wing dominated by Biden, Pete and Klobuchar.

Steyer and Bloomberg are doomed from the start.

The first 4 contests are for a relatively small amount of delegates.  The difference between Giuliani and Bloomberg is that Giuliani was an early entry into the race, whereas Bloomberg is a strategic late entry.

Obviously, but they usually create such a momentum in the media for a candidate, which usually cannot be blunted anymore by a late entry ...

We don't need hundreds of those threads.

Once he officially files with the FEC, he's IN.

Bloomberg has spent 57 Mio. $ on ads - the past week alone:

Quote
Mike Bloomberg has outspent almost every other Democratic candidate on TV and digital ads since he entered the race just over a week ago.

In the wake of Bloomberg’s presidential campaign launch on Nov. 24, he’s invested $57 million in TV advertising, putting him on track to overtake fellow billionaire Tom Steyer, who has spent just over $60 million since July, according to data compiled by Advertising Analytics.

The latest data from the ad tracking firm shows Bloomberg has spent over $6 million on national TV spots, plus $3 million in local ads focused on New York and Los Angeles, and over $4 million in Texas spots. California and Texas combined serve up over 600 delegates to Democrats running in the 2020 primary.

Steyer has also spent some 60 Mio. already, but since July ...

Bloomberg has spent 118 Mio. $ in TV, radio and online ads.

In the past 4 weeks ...

That’s more than all the other 25+ candidates combined since the start of their campaigns + spending on their staff.

Yeah, this thread needs to be stuck and the other new map thread unstuck.

Even unstick the primary/caucus filing thread. It’s pretty clear at this point that all major candidates will be on the ballot everywhere.

The other 5 candidates need to deploy the flame thrower against Bloomberg tomorrow.

Mike Bloomberg is a Republican Trojan horse deployed in a Democratic primary race.

Pete and Co. need to hammer this into the heads of voters the next 2 weeks.

Why would Democratic voters want a general election between 2 Republicans ?
