It was on Super Tuesday...why weren't Santorum and Gingrich on the ballot? Considering that Ron Paul, as the only one being on it besides Romney, took nearly 40% of the vote and he doesn't seem to me as a particularly good fit for Virginia Republicans, could Santorum or Gingrich have won there if they had been on the ballot?

Lots of the candidates messed up their petitions to get on the ballot so they got left off. This speaks in part to the energy (if that's what you want to call it) behind the Paul campaign.

Santorum would have siphoned off some support from Romney but NoVA was a great fit for Romney (actually the whole 95 corridor was) and still had a respectable GOP apparatus at that point. Romney would probably have still walked away with 30 delegates.

Gingrich would have had no impact.
