The guy was a great Senator and I still think its a shame that he wasn't able to make a comeback in '16. In the event of a Trump victory next year, maybe a presidential run in 2024?

I don't get the obsession with Russ Feingold like he was some kind of hero.  Virtually no one cares about campaign finance.  Because he was so ideological, he was below replacement level candidate for WI Dems.

He probably doesn't run for anything again. Two consecutive losses look pretty bad, especially since he was expected to win in 2016. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets something in the next D administration - maybe UN, some big Ambassadorship or even Secretary of State.

I think the admiration for Feingold comes from his strong civil rights record, being the only senator to vote against the PATRIOT Act.

Unfortunately 2-time losers dont get comebacks. Its not fair, since both losses were due to up-ticket unpopularity, and the second loss in particular was due to an up-ticket focus on non-Feingold groups, but politics isn't fair.

The best he can do is some cabinet position.

He's a 66 year old time two loser.

I could see him serving in a cabinet post in the next Democratic administration, but he won't get the necessary record to run for national office.
