Pence was given the VP spot as a way to placate religious social conservative voters, and without him, it's possible those voters would not turn out to the same degree in 2016. It would not be a wise move on Trump's part to get rid of Pence.

I think by this point, their loyalty to Trump is so firm and unmovable that he no longer needs Mike Pence.  He has proven his 'worth' to them, and they have not found him wanting. At least when it matters most to them.
