Had he gotten in six months ago, I would get it. I don't get why he's getting in now when he has no chance of making the debates and has a worse chance of getting support.

Because he’s delusional.  Not sure we can try to understand it.

The Democratic establishment is desperately trying to find one single candidate to coalesce behind, since they sense that Biden isn't as invincible as they thought he was, Mayor Pete would probably not do too well in the GE, and other moderate/centrist candidates have failed to gain traction.

Warren is the Mass establishment and Markey, Presseler and Kennedy have already endorsed her, Patrick, as well as Bloomberg,  should of joined in July or Sept

This, and maybe Obama or his former staff are playing puppeteer from behind the scenes

Our bench and the top four candidates being okay at best.

He doesn't make it any less mediocre though.

I like how he's the only candidate with literally no notable endorsements.  I mean, good God, even Marianne Williamson somehow got a former two-term Congressman to support her.

This. I don't think he would've gotten in just because of his own decision.

Cause he saw Bloomberg jump in and get a lot of attention, so he might be implementing a similar strategy.

From a strategy standpoint, he sees a weak bench especially in the "moderate" lane. If Biden's numbers collapse further, the main alternative is a small city mayor. And Patrick does have a regional advantage in New Hampshire, as well as appeal to African-American voters in the southern states.

The other reason is that he chose not to run because his wife had cancer. She's better now.

Because he wants to be president and sees the current crop of Dems as weak candidates and Trump as a vulnerable incumbent. I don't think there's any conspiracy for him personally, just ambition and pride.

Obama could provide the ultimate endorsement...
