"Former President Barack Obama, in an address to liberal donors, warned candidates not to go too far left and sought to calm those who were concerned about the state of the Democratic primary."

That’s an indirect endorsement for Biden or Buttigieg.

I love this man! He gets it, though I fault him for not caring more about Democrats downballot during his presidency.

I hope he endorses Uncle Joe as soon as possible. Joe Biden is the man to continue his legacy.

Yeah. Sanders or Warren certainly won't give rich criminals a pass the way Uncle Joe will.

Advice from the man that threw away thousands of legislative seats, 15 Senate seats, managed to lose his share of the vote for re-election and ultimately couldn't get his horse across the finish line for a third term....curious...very curious.

The fat heads won't listen and we're probably going to end up with more Trump because of it.

This means he's doing something right. Fortunately, elections are won in the real world.

People keep blaming him losses in midterm election like that never has happened to other Presidents. A whole lot of those seats were on borrowed time as it was. And short of committing fraud, nobody can guarantee that anyone will win an election.

I really regret voting for this fraud 3 times (2008 primary, 2008 general, 2012 general).

Indeed he should have done more for the party, but: Obama won two presidential elections fair and square, and he's the only Democrat since FDR who received and absolute majority of the popular vote twice.

These "Democrats are too far left" takes are getting pretty tiresome, to be honest. And it's not like they're heavy on substance, either.

Immigration reform, campaign finance reform,  gun control and SSA reform were all reforms Obama wanted to do, but Boehner stifled him, and in 2016, blocking of Garland was the further erosion of bipartisanship; as a result, Warren, will get rid of filibuster to bring about changes.

The fact that Obama makes some careful and common sense statements and the bros react in such a shrill and unhinged way says more about them than him.
These people are simply incapable of accepting the fact that there is such a thing as good faith criticism. Anyone who deviates from the dogma MUST be either corrupt or an idiot.

This is why I am a hardcore centrist Independent.

None of these extreme parties appeal to me.

Obama being an establishment puppet once again. I like the guy, but this is shameful. The country needs Bernie Sanders, or anybody who will actually represent the VOTERS.

Good.

Like voting for an empty suit or a gaffe machine will do any good for the party. Let this be a lesson that the Democratic establishment only exists to fix up the mess of the Republicans after their tenure, not to provide lasting service to the American people.

What a horrible fool Obama has been out of office.

Quote
While Mr. Obama did not single out any specific primary candidate or policy proposal, he cautioned that the universe of voters that could support a Democratic candidate — Democrats, independents and moderate Republicans — are not driven by the same views reflected on “certain left-leaning Twitter feeds” or “the activist wing of our party.”

“Even as we push the envelope and we are bold in our vision we also have to be rooted in reality,” Mr. Obama said. “The average American doesn’t think we have to completely tear down the system and remake it.”

“I don’t think we should be deluded into thinking that the resistance to certain approaches to things is simply because voters haven’t heard a bold enough proposal and if they hear something as bold as possible then immediately that’s going to activate them,” he said.

100% accurate. It would really suck if Democrats blew this election, or a chance of taking the Senate, by lurching too far to the left.

90-95% of those seats were gone no matter what. You really think Obama could've somehow saved say the Oklahoma House from turning Atlas blue?

fwiw I don't agree with him. I think Warren and Sanders are the best choices, and polls usually show that. But to say he "threw away" thousands of legislative seats is disingenuous.
