After at least a decade of preparations, coal-reliant Poland may be one step away from embarking on its biggest power project ever, with talks on securing the $60 billion in financing entering the final stretch.
Bloomberg

Good news.

Good news.

Great news!

Safe reactors are the best immediate measure we can take to combat climate change right here, right now.

Not to mention the positive health influence which it will have on people who will end up breathing less coal pollution as a result.

Coal dependence is especially big problem here. It's a great news indeed.

We really need to stop with the irrational fear of the nuclear energy. Yes, we should pursue renewable sources of energy, but that alone is not nearly enough to move away from the carbon.

Africa is also looking to nuclear energy to meet its needs -but instead of Russia or China they have turned to India:

Energy-starved Africa looks to India for nuclear reactors

Great news. Nuclear energy isn't ideal but is still far much better than what Poland does now and is a great short term alternative, and that's something the left and greens should recognize.

Can't wait for twenty years down the line when they finally manage to open the first one. (For some reason the nuclear industry is exclusively run by people who don't understand how to plan projects, with the result that even governments that really want nuclear end up with gigantic overruns and embarrassments). Shame really.
