As much as I'd like to- i can't sit on the fence! I think her style of governance; the way she interacted with her Cabinet and the polices put foward were authoritarian. While she de-regulated the market, I would say that was driven more by free-market principles than by any 'libertarian' ideology. Though her first term, 1979-1983 was less authoritarian than the later two, particularly allowing the purchase of council homes and so forth.

Her government also tried to interfere in the private lives of it's citizens during her last term (Section 28...a particular bugbear of mine) and of course the Poll Tax. She became..well...'batty' after 1986 IMO and she lost the confidence of the country, her party and her cabinet as a result.

She has the compassion of a sex-starved boa constrictor.

In style, authoritarian, but in substance, libertarian.  She freed the British people from the shackles of permanent economic decline, and brought a free market economy back to Britain.

If she was so terrible, why has the Labor Party continued her policies, for the most part?

Neither, she is the greatest politicain alive and one of the best of all time, she is neither a despot or a libertarian, she is a conservative genius and that is all.

Authoritarian o/c. Although maybe not in some respects (ie; deregulating (up to a point) The City).

I really don't know anything about foreign politics, because other countries don't interest me at all. However, all the right people seem to hate her, so she must be a decent person.

The correct answer is conservative, but I guess authoritarian comes closest to that.
