Naxos', played by the Stuttgart State Opera Orchestra & Chorus directed by Lothar Zagrosek.

Would you recommend it? I'm thinking of picking up a copy - iTunes is offering me Swarowsky's recording with the Grosses Symphony Orchestra as cheapest at moment, but will have a look around some shops too.

Well, my experience with Wagner is limited (only recently did I find a liking for his music), but I found Zagrosek's interpretation of all the Ring Cycle excellent. The singers all perform at least adequately and many are outstanding and Zagrosek's swift interpretation is very satisfying.

Hmmmm, had a look for it and it seems a bit out of my price range. Ah well, life of a student.

Yeah, Wagner's love for the grandiose makes his music rather pricey. I have gotten acquainted with it by subscribing to Naxos' service which allows one to listen to all their tracks for $19.95 a year. The big downside is you can't download it.
