Using Ave Maria to promote consumer crap is pretty disgusting and disrespectful, and it was put out by one of the least ethical corporations in existence today.  Why are we supposed to be more outraged about "Happy Holidays" being on our overpriced Starbucks cups or Chick-fil-A not donating to anti-LGBT orgs than the fact that businesses are exploiting Christianity to force commercialism down our throats earlier and earlier each year it seems?

I would never shop on the Amazon to begin with. I don't detest the ad since it sets up a pretty cute childhood scene we can all relate to, yet the music is used by the father finding a sanctuary from the noise of that childhood nonsense as he listens to this beautiful sound and words through his headphones. More people should be like the adult not fewer.

I don't agree with Christmas presents, but all companies are going to have ads for their goods year-round.

Wouldn't say I'm "outraged," but I don't take too kindly to it.

Don’t only Catholics sing that (awesome) song, anyway?  That’s, like, not even close to a majority of Christians, if it is truly a Catholic tune.  Might explain them not caring.

I was more offended when it was used in Fantasia and Going My Way.

In demonstrating the quality of headphones, that's the kind of song you'd want good headphones for.

It's a calming work which inspires relaxation and a sense of peace.  Would it have been less offensive if the guy with the headphones been listening to Beautiful People by Marilyn Manson?

I've heard the Ave Maria played at several Protestant churches, but that's just my anecdotal evidence.

Err, it's the Schubert lieder Ave Maria, not the sacred church composition lol.

They could have used any number of songs.  Hymns do not belong in marketing.

Secular capitalism should be separate from religious life, not intermixed with it.

I listened the ad, it barely sounds like music. Like the piano part at the start is OK, (like the song at the beginning of Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness), but those vocals, OMG WTF.

BRTD must be really confused by traditional hymns and classical music in general.

Actually not quite, there are some classic hymns I hear in church, but they're rock (sometimes even pop punk!) covers, not the classic.

Go ahead and run the numbers on that one, buddy.

I’m not sure if there are many polls on who sings that in church based on denomination, so I can only assume you were insinuating Catholics were a majority of American Christians, or at least close?

70.6% of Americans identify as Christians.

20.8% of Americans identify as Catholics.

.208/.706 = approx. 29.5% of American Christians identifying as Catholics.

Numbers run, buddy? ✔️

https://www.pewforum.org/religious-landscape-study/

They might be an even smaller portion of “conservative Christians.”

Because the overwhelming majority of outspoken "conservative Christians" Americans are neither Christians, nor conservative, and don't even really want to be Americans.

BRTD confirmed most Boomer user owing to his inability to accept any aspect of culture that did not emerge during his twenties. This surely explains not only his strange music taste but also his current estrangement from contemporary left-liberalism.
