This argument doesn't make sense in so many ways. It would have made more sense from someone left-of-center in the Bush Era or the Vietnam War Era when up against chickenhawks, but not from the TRUMP Era when up against me and Lamar.

Not anymore. We need to start viewing American history as a clash between civilized humans and white Southerners/Evangelicals. They're the undisputed villains of this story — they don't deserve to share in our national triumphs, they aren't qualified to lecture us on anything (patriotism, personal responsibility, sexual mores, etc.), and they're no longer respected members of our political community. What they do, what happens to them, isn't our problem — they're separate, distinct.

Talk to me when we actually live in a democracy. Right now, with the exception of the House, we're enduring minority rule. Which, if I have anything to do with it, the center-left majority in this country will increasingly reject as illegitimate.

And "dehumanization" seems an appropriate response to those whose only value is ethnic/religious tribalism. Certainly, I would never kill actual humans, but to my mind, the Germans supporting Hitler in 1944, along with the Confederates supporting Davis in 1864, don't exactly qualify.

Dehumanizing Republicans is wrong (their choices are very human, and equally very stupid and very evil). But I can understand the motivation behind it. What do you do when a good proportion (about 20% to 25%) of your fellow citizens are either so stupid they're an active danger to the community, or utterly unwilling to participate in society in good faith?

The best I can come up with is that the rest of us need to be far better organized and motivated than we are now, and it needs to be made very clear to the Republicans that both the letter and spirit of law will be followed, whether the Republicans like it or not.
