Labour won't be shut out of Scotland as they hold Edinburgh South.

Dominic Grieve defeated.  Excellent.

Are you a Hard Brexiteer solely because it'll allow you and your fellow viperous ghouls to get your talons into Britain's public services, or do you have some sort of emotional reason to support tub-thumping English nationalism as well?
Someone's mad

Yes, I am. Is there any particular reason why I shouldn't be?

SDLP regains Foyle with 57% of the vote. CONGRATS, DERRY GIRLS CHARACTERS

Damn.

Aontu only got 4.3%

Fudge. I was about 0.7% off. Thought they’d keep their deposit there.

Labour won't be shut out of Scotland as they hold Edinburgh South.

Which also means SNP will fall short of 55 predicted by exit poll...which is not the biggest surprise, but still.

Con hold Moray, first non-SNP seat in Scotland

That's a shock, exit poll gave 99% of SNP gain.

It's one of the most Leave friendly Scottish seats.

Corbyn out and Swinson defeated in her own seat. What a nightmare day for both Labour and LibDems.

Obviously Britons are sending a message, regardless of whether I or my Europhile friends across the pond agree with it.
Not really. Most Brits are voting Lab+Lib+Grn+SNP. FPTP is just bullsh*t.

An easy excuse. The game has always been the same. Labour is losing seats its held for decades.

Here is where the LAB-LDEM tactical voting broke down.  LDEM ran a strong candidate in an environment where the anti-CON vote is mostly going over to LAB.

That may be, but that doesn't mean Brits are sending a message. Just that Labour lost.

It went from a Labour win of 20 votes to a Con win of 150 votes this time.

Yup, no excuse for the remain vote not winning there. Tories shouldnt have come out on top.

Given this majority victory by Conservative, will this result in two-party election like in the United States?  Is this a slippery slope or an anomaly that will die once the Brexit issue is resolved?

Yep; not a very heartening prospect.

Additionally, Wales is now Liberal-free for the second election in a row (which is also the second election, period, where that's happened). They - and Labour - still at least have a presence in Scotland, which looked touch-and-go for a while tonight.

They are not even within single-digits anywhere in Wales, though Brecon and Radnorshire (which they'd won at a by-election earlier this year) remains a realistic-ish future prospect at just 53-36 against the Tories. Apart from that they're dead.

Labour oh-so-narrowly holds Alyn and Deeside, somehow. So North Wales won't be completely without Labour representation after all.
