I heard the SNP is gaining seats from the LibDems, maybe even Swinson is vulnerable?

Quite possible, I’d say. Orkney and Shetland should still be safe. Swinson might scrape by though. Scotland is tricky to predict.

If the SNP are really on 55, and the Lib Dems on 13, then Swinson has probably lost.

So who's getting axed tonight? Dennis Skinner is definitely gone I guess.

I don't really think Labour deserved to do any better than this--I've been probably the maroon avatar most critical of them on the antisemitism issue--but this is obviously a terrible result for British working people, and seeing the most personally loathsome individual on the forum gloating about this is enough to make me hurl. I'm going out to celebrate Our Lady of Guadalupe. I might be back for a hot-take postmortem later.

Good Lord. I hope the union can survive five years of Boris Johnson and the inevitable disaster that is Brexit. One thing is certain: Jeremy Corbyn needs to immediately resign. He has been an absolute failure as leader of the Labour Party.

Exit polls considered the speaker as part of tories in 2017, probably part of lab this time.  So 3 PC 1 Green.

The Real Question is now who will be the next Labour leader?

It's arguably a good result in the long term. Corbynism is dead if this exit poll is reflected in the actual result.

My one word reaction was "Woah!", which I think will be a widespread one.

I am getting really excited.  I am pretty much going to stay up all night just to watch LAB fall below 200 seats.

Maybe Pidcock? Would be nice to see Ed Miliband make a return also.

If the SNP are on 55 seats, they've probably won everything except Orkney and Shetland (Lib), Edinburgh South (Lab), Berwickshire (Con) and Dumfriesshire (Con). Swinson is probably gone.

If anyone is curious, C-Span 2 has just started their coverage in the states.

Surprised by the result and SNP's performance. Will be curious to see if they won due to a split vote or their surge was so massive it would have won regardless.

LDEM    15.5
PC          3.5

Mostly accepting the exit poll

And the Lib Dems has 13 seats so Labour returning to New Labour won't happen.

Jfc no one predicted it would be this bad.

Bear in mind the exit poll is often off by a few seats, but it’s hard to see it being off by anywhere near enough for it not to be considered a very good night for the Tories.

Guess Brexit is finally happening. Hopefully that’s the only major thing that changes.
