Well we basically have to call them both at witnesses to figure out who is right.

Today's proceedings are beginning with more arguments by Mr. Sekulow. All Senators, along with NCYMM's sock, are commanded to keep silent on pain of imprisonment. Mr. Sekulow has 22 hours and 5 minutes remaining.

Starr just asked "will law professors agree (with my arguments)?" and then immediately answered "no".

Jay Sekulow whining about Pelosi’s souvenir pens...

That’s all they got. They’re not defending Trump, they’re nitpicking the Democrats for the dumbest things. This is not a defense.

Of course I’ll believe it when I see it, but this is a hopeful sign.

Yes, I believe it, when I see it. It would certainly be amazing to see this blowing up into Moscow Mitch's face.

I wonder who else these defectors are? Besides Mitt Romney, Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski, I suppose Rob Portman, Pat Roberts, Lamar Alexander, Cory Gardner and Richard Burr?

So far they have 3, but the others are yet determined. Gardner is doomed and McSally is running in an R AZ ; consequently,  there is gonna be Executive Privilege if they go forward with witnesses

Maybe there are some with the mindset, "meh, let them have witnesses. They'll stop blabbing about it and I'll still vote to acquit in the end."

If Marco Rubio doesn't vote for witnesses he's pretty much a complete punk.

Their whole argument is that rotten Trump should be protected by the awesome power and importance of the office of The Presidency. Which is a very weird argument. If the office of The Presidency cloaks you in great power and deference shouldn't the occupant live up to that. Instead we keep getting the argument that Trump no matter how corrupt is above the law because POTUS.

The President is either out of touch with the truth or he is telling a complete lie.  One way or the other he is unfit to be President.

A protracted fight over witnesses and documents — should that key vote allow them later this week — could significantly drag out the length of Trump’s trial. One idea floated by Graham was for senators to look at Bolton’s unpublished manuscript. But for that to happen, Graham, said, the Bidens would also have to be investigated.

That was the consensus, Republicans said, after a closed-door party lunch, when senators concurred that if Bolton were called, the Senate would similarly have to summon the Bidens, according to Sen. Mike Braun (R-Ind.).

McConnell’s message to the conference was that, “remember, we passed a rules package that gives us an opportunity to vote on this very issue of witnesses after we hear both sides and ask our questions,” said Sen. Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.).

Pam Bondi is a piece of work. She is the very last person who should be railing against money laundering considering her history with the Trump campaign.

The more Pam Bondi and Eric Herschmann talk about Hunter Biden, the uglier this gets for Joe Biden's campaign.

If we get witnesses, the murky world of Hunter, and hence Joe Biden, will be laid bare.

Democrats aren’t scared of Hunter Biden being subpoenaed. The GOP senators are the only ones scared of evidence being presented. By all means, let both sides call whichever witnesses they want! But if Trump’s team subpoenas Biden and then proceeds to ask him a bunch of questions that are not relevant to the impeachment articles, then the House managers should be allowed to object, and the Chief Justice should shut it down.

Derschowitz could sneeze and you would say it was devastating for the Democrats.

Toomey proposes a ‘one-for-one’ witness deal in Trump impeachment trial amid Bolton revelations
Quote
Sen. Patrick J. Toomey (R-Pa.), an influential conservative in the Senate, has spoken with several colleagues in recent days about possibly summoning just two witnesses to President Trump’s impeachment trial, with one called by Republicans and one by Democrats, according to three Republican officials.

Toomey has confided to GOP senators that proposing a “one-for-one” deal with Senate Democrats may be necessary at some point, particularly with pressure mounting for witnesses to be called, according to the officials, who requested anonymity to discuss private conversations. He has argued that such an arrangement could force Democrats to accept a Republican witness against their wishes or else risk having Republicans move ahead to acquit Trump, the officials said.

Toomey has spoken about his idea with Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) and others, the officials added.

Toomey’s office declined to comment Monday.
Quote
Toomey, who is not up for reelection until 2022, is close to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.). He is not close with the president or top aides in the White House.

McConnell, however, is so far discouraging Toomey’s suggestion from becoming the party’s position. Instead, he told Senate Republicans during Monday’s lunch to wait on any witness deal proposal until after Trump’s legal team is done making its defense on the Senate floor, underscoring a position he has held for weeks, the officials said.

"Obvious choices  are Adam Schiff, Joe Biden and Hunter Biden for starters."

Schiff och Hunter? OMG, please, make it happen.

Call Schiff as a witness would be so embarrassing for Republicans, it would just look childish.

Why call Schiff as a witness? Are they still on the stupid “he made up the whistleblower” idea? Because if not what possible relevance does he have. Also what does Hunter have to actually do with the case?
