Based upon the GOP senators that have expressed disapproval of Trump's actions, Joe Manchin (D-WV) suggests CENSURING the President.  He believes such a decision would receive bipartisan support.

That would be a clear and tacit admission that he did something wrong. I don't see this hurting in any way

The question is: would enough of the Democrats be onboard with this?

And how would such a motion be introduced?

Those are some astonishingly insightful words from Manchin. Maybe we don't have to worry about voting to acquit.

It is also worth painting Trump that way on the campaign trail, though his very obvious pompous elitism really should be more obvious. Him thinking of himself before anyone else is definitive of his character, and always has been as long as he has been a public figure. The problem is that aspect of his personality fits all too neatly into the Republican Party and made that an appealing part of his persona.

If Biden wins the presidency, Joni Ernst may not even be in the senate to impeach him.

Euh no, seriously no

She is outperforming Trump by 3 to 4 points, thus in order to see Ernst losing you probably needs Trump to lose the PV by +12 points, that’s not going to happen

She is under water in approval and has less than 40% support.  This is before the Senate phase of the impeachment.

The fact of the matter Dems have the 278 blue wall and their 3 Senate seats: AZ, CO, KS and NC. The result is a Dem trifecta due to the Trump corruption. Trump is guaranteed to be prosecuted by a D attorney general, minimum he will pay back restitution for being audited by the IRS; consequently,  Trump is finished

I remember hearing about that last time.

Interesting little moment there as the Senate was adjourning: Chuck Grassley (R-IA) tried to shake Chief Justice Roberts' hand.  The Chief Justice refused.

This is to maintain impartiality I guess? I'm not sure why it matters when he's only willing to rule on minor procedural issues.

Wait, was Joni Ernst right about her Iowa comment, with the results so far Biden is in fifth place...

Just now: Lamar Alexander refuses to endorse censure of President Trump, stating that he has said all that needs to be said.

And Rand Paul mentions the alleged name of the whistleblower during his allotted speaking time on the Senate floor.

I wasn't able to watch the full clip, so I couldn't see if she added, "I'm confident we'll be able to get away with our treason more successfully next time" or "I don't think he'd be stupid enough to have so many witnesses, again".

I'd read "much more cautious" as "He'll make sure he doesn't get caught again".

I don't think anyone is stupid enough to believe Trump will simply stop being corrupt.

Alternatively, Trump got himself impeached in an attempt to politically smear an opponent who got 4th in Iowa.

I don't think Trump had anything to do with Biden's result in Iowa but we shouldn't even have to wonder or speculate.

I saw this clip over an hour ago. Given this and Kavanaugh, Collins is going to have the fight of her political life in Maine this year.

As if she would have been more likely to win if she had voted to remove him lol.

Well ... yeah. She doesn't have a primary challenger.

It's a devil's dilemma for Collins either way. Vote to convict, and get primaried. Vote to acquit (as she will tomorrow), and lose (possibly) the general election.
