Yeah, that's too bad.

I never noticed how light-skinned she is.

I bet you were!  This is the best news for India - that Singh guy is so much better than Gandi.. kind of like having a DLC Democrat instead of a left-wing liberal Democrat.  Here's hoping Singh gets it!

Well, she's light-skinned, Brambila, because she's Italian by birth.

The idea of India having an Italian PM reminds me of Orwell/Blair's Burmese Days - remember the woman who thinks the Indians 'look like Dagos'?

Boy, the markets haven't re-acted well to this over there. Looks like what you call a good old fashioned shake-up. Sympathy vote at work here, somehow?

At least the Communists didn't get in. Well wait a minute. We're talking about India. If the Commies and Socialists get in or make a deal or whichever, we won't have to worry about that country ever rivaling us economically.

What's THAT to do with anything? She is Italian by birth, but her Heritage most definitely goes back to India, so I figure she DOES know what things are like there.

About sympathy-votes: looking at elections around thw world, there ALWAYS are sympathy-votes, or votes because you have ALWAYS voted that way Wink.
And her withdrawal was most likely avoiding conflict.. but not nesecarily for herself, but to get some more stability into the new gouvernment. If you avoid conflict for yourself, you don't go into politics.
