Certainly plausable, not quite up to the level of "proof" however...

Iraq's WMD Secreted in Syria, Sada Says

By IRA STOLL - Staff Reporter of the Sun
January 26, 2006

The man who served as the no. 2 official in Saddam Hussein's air force says Iraq moved weapons of mass destruction into Syria before the war by loading the weapons into civilian aircraft in which the passenger seats were removed.

The Iraqi general, Georges Sada, makes the charges in a new book, "Saddam's Secrets," released this week. He detailed the transfers in an interview yesterday with The New York Sun.

"There are weapons of mass destruction gone out from Iraq to Syria, and they must be found and returned to safe hands," Mr. Sada said. "I am confident they were taken over."

Mr. Sada's comments come just more than a month after Israel's top general during Operation Iraqi Freedom, Moshe Yaalon, told the Sun that Saddam "transferred the chemical agents from Iraq to Syria."

Democrats have made the absence of stockpiles of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq a theme in their criticism of the Bush administration's decision to go to war in 2003. And President Bush himself has conceded much of the point; in a televised prime-time address to Americans last month, he said, "It is true that many nations believed that Saddam had weapons of mass destruction. But much of the intelligence turned out to be wrong."

Said Mr. Bush, "We did not find those weapons."

Story continued....

If we now invade Syria and find nothing, where will the next place be?

This could be the case, but it seems... awfully convenient, to say the least.  I'm not sure what could substantiate what this person has to say, though.

While it does pass the mythical "smell test," I'd need a lot more evidence to believe it.

It's certainly possible, but so are many other things.

There should be records of the flights and some surveillance of where they went.

I don't buy it based on the fact that while both were nominally Baathist, Iraq and Syria were not on good terms. Syria opposed Iraq during the Gulf War with the rest of the Middle East. Plus Syria has a record of persecuting Iraq-orientated Baathists.

Er, do you remember when Saddam sent his planes to Iran to avoid having them destroyed during Desert Storm?

This hostility between Iraq and Iran were substantially more recent and severe than those between Iraq and Syria.

Like this:

I've had a revelation; either that, or the drugs wore off.

All Democrats are the spawn of Satan.  I'm shaving my head and joining the Nazi Party to fight those pervasive Commie-Pinko liberal Damnocrats!

All hail our paramount leader, George W. Bush!!!!

You leave the header and it looks like he said it.

Now, obviously Jfern did not say those things (and he is permitted to express my unrequited love for Sheila Jackson-Lee on this thread). Wink

Except as a joke, quite deliberate here, it isn't a good thing to do.

I was being sarcastic, J.J.  Of course I know how to do it.

Also, the Seahawks suck.

Darn right.
