Part I: The Tide of Change(1850-1859)

The year is 1850, the place the amazon jungle. In it a butterfly is sitting on a log, beneath a leaf waiting out a heavy wet season rainstorm. In our timeline, the drop of water that just hit the leaf rolled off it harmlessly but in this world the drop hits the butterfly startlign it whoch causes it to flap its wings. 156 years of history has just been aborted in the blink of an eye. Hitler, Stalin, Roosevelt will all never be important. Billions will never be born or die. The Angel of history has been permanently derailed.

The effects of the historical derailment appear to be minor, a missed person here and there but they build up. The first noticable changes are the presence of the Republic of Sonora and the republic of baja california. The first notable changes in regards to historical figures include the deaths of U.S. Grant and Abraham lincoln. The butterfly effect has even affected politics for example: the underlying sectional tension that would tear apart the united states in both worlds in war and rebellion has just been brought up a notch. William walker who in our earth failed takes over central america in triumph. Nicaragua, guatamala and other nations are brought under his rule. The govenor(and de facto dictator) of northeast mexico, Santiago Vidaurri consolidates his rule and expands till he borders the republic of sonora to the west. The rebels on the yucatan peninsula and the nation of Chan Santa cruz in east yucatan hold on to their freedom in this world. In January 1, 1860 the world outside north america appears totally unaffected but this will change in time as the derailment of the angel of history's effects spread up and down the timestream.
