Traffic

I saw it when it came out on video like ten years ago, but decided to sit down and watch it again. I remember really liking it before, and I still thought it was a great movie this time.

Swing Vote

It was enjoyable. It was my second time watching it.

Bandslam

I Netflixed it because I was curious how a movie with such an awful target audience could get over 80% on Rotten Tomatoes. This is basically the most mis-marketed movie EVER, forget about the teenybopper actresses, it's nothing like the rest of their work. Really the movie it reminded me of most was Adventureland (just obviously nowhere near as raunchy.) Yes, this is actually a really good movie.

Fritz The Cat

I had seen some of it before but this was my first time watching it in its entirety. Pretty good. Heavy Traffic is a lot better though.

I took my brother and his best friend to see How to Train Your Dragon. It was rather typical fare, but quite good as far as such things go. I was pleasantly surprised.

97% on RT. Shouldn't be that surprising.

I'm looking forward to Kick-Ass based on the reviews. I can't say I ever read any of the comics (even though I'm a comic reader).

Saw three movies over the weekend:

Did You Hear About the Morgans?: a movie with Sarah Jessica Parker and Hugh Grant. They are a married couple from New York that's seperated due to Grant's infidelity, but he wants her back and seems genuine. They got together one night for dinner to talk about the divorce and witness a murder. They get put in witness protection in Wyoming, and hilarity ensues so to speak. I kind of like Grant's rom coms, they're usually ridiculous and stupid but you get a few laughs out of them. Don't take them seriously and you can usually have an enjoyable experience. This one was pretty dumb, and I could have done without it, but it wasn't a bad way to waste a couple hours.

Couples Retreat: This actually was a bad way to waste two hours. The writing was bad, there were almost no laughs, and plot was beyond stupid. The setup was ridiculous, it was full of anti-climactic bits that were supposed to be funny, and the ending was equally anti-climactic. Kristin Davis was hot, and Faizon Love was fairly funny, but this was a total dud.

Suspect: this movie from 1987 has Cher as a public defender and Dennis Quaid as a Washington lobbyist who gets called for jury duty. Liam Neeson, a homeless man, gets accused of murdering an aide to the Attorney General. Quaid begins to notice certain things during the trial and decides to conduct his independent investigation, eventually collaborating with Cher to get Neeson off the hook. This movie wasn't great, and some parts were pretty silly and unrealistic, but I'm actually glad I watched it and it was definitely entertaining.

Seen the redband trailer? It's hilarious. That little girl in it is actually really funny.

Getting a higher rating than WALL-E did shock me though.

It's more of a kids' film than WALL-E was. I suspect I liked WALL-E more than my brother did.

Crash

Pretty ridiculous and insulting to the viewer's intelligence, though some of the characters (mostly just Matt Dillon's, I guess) were interesting.

The only character in that movie I found even remotely likable was the locksmith. Well also the Persian shopkeeper's daughter, just because she was so insanely hot.

Sherlock Holmes

It was fine for the most part. I could see why Arthur Conan Doyle purists would despise it though. I don't know if we really need fart jokes in Sherlock Holmes movies...

Hurt Locker

Shutter Island

Videocracy

Hurt Locker was excellent, though very reminiscient of Apocalypse Now. In Sweden people are angry because it doesn't criticize the Iraq war enough though.

Shutter Island was ok, but I got the twist way too early to really enjoy it. Also, I found it to be a bit of a rip-off on Memento.

Videocracy was awesome. It sure makes you feel that Italy sucks.

Daddy Day Care - I can't believe Murphy got passed over by the Academy when his performance was nothing short of breathtaking. Meet Dave was amazing too, when I went to see it in theatres I don't think there was a dry eye in the house, both because of crying from laughter, and from the gut wrenching ending.

GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra - quite possibly the most badass movie I've ever seen. My frat buddies and I rented it and were totally blown away. The special effects were epic and the acting was pretty chill.

It was on TV.

The Ugly Truth - utterly predictable, but at least Heigl is hot.
