Hobo with a Shotgun.

Delightfully gory...plot was, as expected, retarded.

The Greatest Movie Ever Sold
I'm seeing a rather rapid decline in the quality of Spurlock's works.

I watched a movie called The Sun on Netflix.  It was supposedly about Hirohito in the lead up to the end and aftermath of WWII.  It was bad.  The historical accuracy and American characters were absurd.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II - it's depressing, that the series is over.  It was a major part of my childhood, and now it's done.

I don't really get this line of reasoning. Wasn't it over when the last book came out?

Joe Vs. The Volcano

This is perhaps one of the interested and random movies ever made, but I have always loved this movie! There is so much stuff behind this film, like the meaning of it is up for debate and no one really knows what the whole truth behind the plot is, and there is a ton of fan theories around this movie. That is a good thing though, and it helps make this more well known. It bombed when It came out in 1990, and that is just sad because it is a great movie,

I always try to watch this once or twice a year as a tradition of mine, so I am going to watch this on Christmas Eve, it fits the occasion. I love the soundtrack it is so beautiful and haunting to listen to, but at the same time it makes me feel very sad for some reason, IDK why.

Not really.  We still had the movies, which were a part of the story, too.  It's the overall impact of the end of all parts of the series.

The Constant Gardner

It could have been better.  Tempo was too slow.  The story was definitely better than the end execution.

Watched five today due to a woman wanting to watch them.

King of Hearts (1966)

Creator (1985)

The Ruling Class (1972)

Harvey (1950)

Murder by Death (1976)

I actually enjoyed most of them quite a bit, especially The Ruling Class.

Last Year in Marienbad (1960).

Anyone who thinks they know what this is about is, shall we say, being slightly liberal with the truth. Certainly worth a look mind and the French bourgeoise never looked creepier. (Best way of describing it: A 90 minute horror movie with all the 'shock' scenes taken out and no obvious villian).

I haven't seen it but for me it's about the match stick game, oddly enough. My dad taught me that game as based on the movie.

I only watched one Resnais but I've been wanting to get around to this one as well.

Even though it is somewhat peripheral to the plot(? - wrong word to use. The, ummm, 'action') the match stick game (Initially played with cards and then possibly with non-existant photos, you have to watch it to get that bit) is one thing which constantly sticks in my mind. That and the black and white photography, which is great. In general though, like with The Tree of Life, I really have nothing intelligent to say about it (except that it was an obvious influence on David Lynch, if that classes as inteligent comment).

What was your previous Resnais film? The local Art film theatre here is doing a season on him atm so that's probably going to be my August cinema viewing.

Hiroshima, Mon Amour

I should probably rewatch it, because I remember liking it but little about it. Probably because, like what you describe, there is no real plot. A man and a woman meet and it's about war traumas, from what I recall.

And I think the Lynch influence thing would qualify as intelligent. Based on my one movie it makes sense, since the sort of absence of plot is striking in both cases.

No, although I've had a little bit of contact with her and my brother sees her occasionally.

Good flick.  DiCaprio was also excellent in This Boy's Life from a few years earlier.  You could tell he was going to have a good career.

I re-watched Trainspotting. I'd forgotten how awesome the opening scenes are. May need to dust off my Irvine Welsh books.
