2012 was on FX last night.  Terrible, but still worth a watch given the calendar and lack of anything else on tv.  I imagine it will be relegated to the ash heap of terrible movies and never seen again when we reach 2013?

Drive

Recommended.

Its strong graphic violence means that it is no movie for the squimish though. One of many aspects where Drive bears a striking resemblance to the more recent David Cronenberg movies. Except that the protagonist isn't played by Viggo Mortensen, of course (although I could certainly envision him playing a somewhat older version of Ryan Gosling's character  Wink ).

Excellent movie despite the huge gaping plot hole.

IF JOE CABOT HAS IT FIGURED OUT WHY THE HELL DOES HE SHOW UP AT THE WAREHOUSE?

Me too! It started off kind of slow but got more hilarious as it went along. I'm glad I'm not alone.

I wonder if Lief has watched it yet?

I would hope so. A friend of mine paid the $10 to watch it, but I have since found it for free elsewhere...it got better as it went along

The Descendants. I highly recommend it if you like dramas. Great mixture of drama and comedic relief. Much better than Clooney's other big release last year (i.e., Ides of March).

Misery. Very good, although it kind of reminded me of The King of Comedy.

Paranormal Activity 3. Exactly like the first 2 only it revolves more around kids. Not bad, but nothing new.

I have. It's exactly what you expect it to be.

Right now:

Jurassic Park II on VOX

Haven't seen this one in a very long time, probably not since I was 10 or so.

watched the first part of Friday Night Lights in my Anthropology of Sport class.  will finish it up at home tonight.  I'm pretty sure I watched it several years ago but having read 1/3 of the book it means a bit more this time around.

Doesn't it come out in March?

It was released via itunes but you can pirate it online. I watched it a couple days ago. It's ok; I get Tim & Eric, but at the same time, I don't. So it's hit or miss.

I'll probably wait to watch it on the big screen, especially because I'm running dry on the green stuff at the moment.

Something to note about this thread: It's probably best to post your opinion (however brief it may be) of the movie/s you claim to have watched, otherwise it looks like you are post-paddling. (And no, I'm not singling out the above poster. It happens semi-regularly.)

The Professional

Definitely entertaining enough to overlook its leaps in logic/plot holes. Gary Oldman is fantastic (but when is he not?)!
