I was very impressed by The Lives of Others.

Charlie Wilson's War was pretty entertaining too, especially Hoffman.

I thought it was interesting that the U.S. and Britain abolished the slave trade at about the same time, and the distinction between the slave trade and slavery itself. It also thought it was interesting that the British Isles are probably the area of Europe in which slavery had the least ability to take root. As early as the late 18th century separate rulings in England and Scotland declared slavery invalid on the Isles themselves, even before the trade was abolished in the Empire.

Bee Movie (2007)

I thought it was quite good. Good to see Jerry Seinfeld back in the business after a long stint out of it. There was alot of subtle humour in the film, which I found to be quite funny. Now I don't know if that's a good or a bad thing Huh

No Country for Old Men (2007)

It was brilliant film, one of the best I have seen in a very long time. It was yet another great film by the Coen Brothers. Though it scared the living hell out of me, when Anton Chigurh (played by Javier Bardem) killed people. Some of his killings I could stand whilst there were some where I couldn't.

Charlie Wilson's War

Fantastic film. Politics, sex, booze, the Cold War all told from a nice liberal slant. My kind of movie Smiley

Also just saw Charlie Wilson's War.

Great performances by all, but Phillip Seymour Hoffman stole the show. That guy needs a lot more roles like that.

Alexander (1955)

I will say this about the 1955 version of Alexander, it was better than the latest one with Colin Farrell as Alexander. I would rate it 2 stars out of 5 stars.

Oliver Stone's Nixon

I have seen it many times, but it is one of my favorites.  I highly recommend it.  One of the greatest movies ever made.

One of Oliver Stone's finest works, in my mind anyway. Anthony Hopkins plays Richard Nixon very well though I think the stand out in Nixon was Joan Allen playing Pat Nixon. She should have gotten an Oscar for her performance.

It's a Wonderful Life

I never realised how raunchy that film must have been for it's times. Despite it's 'raunchiness' it's still a classic film, gotta love Jimmy Stewart in it. The money's in Bill's house and it's in Fred's house. I can actually do a good impersonation of Stewart saying that.

National Treasure

I'm gearing up for the second one. I hope that's good, eventhough it was only rated about 2 and a half stars in the Sunday Herald Sun.

You read the HunHuh??

Anyway, number two is mindless but fun. It took me about 3 seconds to wor out the opening, which is meant to be mysterious, but oh well.

I honestly hate it Hugh. You can blame my Dad for that. I myself prefer the Age. Afterall what did the Age have on it's front cover compared to the Herald Sun? The Iowa Caucuses, whilst the Herald had them ambushing David Hicks.

Last movie I saw was Walk Hard, which completely sucked. Just a few days before that, though, I saw Charlie Wilson's War, which was amazing, and I Am Legend, which was also pretty good.

Saw Eastern Promises last night. Not terribly impressed, especially with how short it was, but is was very jarring to see stuff like child prostitution happening in London. Definitely a depressing movie.

Flying High II: The Sequel

Like the original Flying High it was a very funny film. But like many films that produce sequels you cannot beat the original.

There Will Be Blood

pretty phenomenal.  just a good story, expertly adapted and directed by Anderson, beautifully shot, and anchored with a great performance by Paul Dano and one for the ages by Daniel Day-Lewis.  possibly my new #1 for 2007.

Seeing There Will Be Blood is one of the first things I plan to do after moving to Minneapolis.

For me: Storytelling. I actually liked this one more than Happiness, which most people don't. The plot setup was kind of weird though, what's the point of two completely unrelated stories just back to back?

The Dish (2000)

One of my all time favourite Australian films. It was written perfectly and to add a cherry on top, the people at Working Dog selected a bloody good cast.

There Will Be Blood.

Brilliant cinematography, two absolutely amazing performances from Daniel Day Lewis and Paul Dano, with incredible chemistry, and a soundtrack that fit the movie PERFECTLY. What more could you ask for?
