Gran Torino was absolutely hilarious. Clint reminds me of myself, and probably what I'll turnout like when I get old.

When you're old?  Tongue

I loved that movie.

Let's see - last night I watched Ghost Town (decently good) and Righteous Kill (never saw the ending coming).

I liked Slumdog.  I can see why it was nominated.  The Bollywood credit sequence seemed out of place.

Towelhead.

Reminded me of Welcome to the Dollhouse. Nowhere near as brilliant obviously, but still good. The title and trailer are misleading though, racial bigotry is a pretty minor part of the movie.

AMC is on right next to me.

They showed "Rambo: First Blood Part II" (1985)...then "First Blood" (1982)...then Part II again....now "Death Wish" (1974).

Wanna know an interesting tidbit...my father saw "Death Wish" in theaters when he was my age in the Air Force, and said at the very end, Bronson got a standing ovation from the audience. Stuff like that doesn't happen anymore.

Just watched "Match Point", the Woody Allen movie, the other night - really enjoyed it.

Slumdog Millionaire

Really good. Excellent direction. The score was really good. I thought the child actors in the first half of the first were particularly impressive.
---

Frost/Nixon

Entertaining and riveting. Fascinating character profiles. Very good film.

Yes and no.  I mean, the whole reason she had to hide her relationship with the black guy was due to her dad's racism.  Actually, the whole reason she had to hide everything from her father was a mixture of his racism and misogyny.

The bit where that liberal family takes her in and the dad tells off her father in Arabic struck me as pretty absurd.

Just watched "Match Point", the Woody Allen movie, the other night - really enjoyed it.

You just liked it that the main character got away with murder.

I thought the idea was that something hits closer to home if one hears it in their native language.

At home, The Wind That Shakes The Barley   (Loved it in high def -- so green!)

Eliza Cuthbert needs to fire her agent, if she hasn't already. I feel like my IQ just dropped 10 points.

Reservoir Dogs

My college was closed due to snow, so I'm basically just watching movies today. Some great scenes in here but the ending doesn't work for me. I feel like the story could have been expanded as well.

The Times of Harvey Milk

Really good, though it's kind of redundant to watch both this and Milk.

Classic...can't believe you're just now seeing it. I'd recommend "True Romance", "Pulp Fiction", and other Tarantino films since they and "Reservoir Dogs" all kind of take place in the same universe.

For example, when Mr. White mentions "Alabama"...she is a character from the film "True Romance". Also, Tarantino's character in "Pulp Fiction" is supposed to be a relative of Mr. White, while John Travolta's character in "Pulp Fiction" is the brother of "Reservoir Dogs"' Mr. Blonde.

Naso, this isn't the first time I've seen it and I've seen Pulp Fiction, of course. I just felt like commenting on it. Jackie Brown is the only major film of his that I haven't seen in it's entirety. I'll check out True Romance at some point though. He didn't direct it but he wrote it.

I finally did what everyone is doing and saw Slumdog Millionaire.

I actually liked it a lot more than I expected to. Good film. I can live with this winning Best Picture, which it will. It wouldn't be my choice but I can live with it. The child actors were amazing.

That part was great but the ending was a bit of an uber-Hollywood copout. On a whole I'd give it a B.

I disagree, I didn't find it to be a "very good movie." Crimes and Misdemeanors make the same point to a large extent and does it better.

It was ok, but I found it to be a little too much in my face.

Rachel Getting Married

Words can not describe how well I recognized the whole scene... even if I don't know any ex-heroin addicts. Very depressing.

Also Recommended.
