Scarface (1983)

Certainly it's entertaining, and Al Pacino makes his character interesting. Unfortunately, all the other characters are flat as cardboard; Michelle Pfeiffer's is particularly bad. The whole movie is 2½ hours of glorification of violence with a bit tacked on at the end to hastily and unconvincingly say that all of that cool stuff that happened before is actually bad. It's not a movie with any sort of real merit.

Ive always felt it was an overrated movie as well. The tangential, incestuous subplot with Tony and his sister was just really weird also.

Bridesmaids. I thought it would've been better if it didn't really have a goal of being a raunchy chick flick that guys wouldn't hate and just focused on being a raunchy comedy in general, but it definitely delivered in some areas. I don't know if it's a disappointment or relief that there was no Ken Jeong cameo, it seems that that happens in just about all of these type of movies today but then again it's also become very overused.

A little bit of Ken Jeong goes a very long way. He can be funny, but mostly he's just annoying.

The maximum amount of time he should appear in a movie is about 5 minutes. When every comedy wanted him for that long and he ended appearing a bit longer he got overused.

and my answer is now Greenberg, a mediocre 2010 film featuring protagonist Ben Stiller.  despite its mediocrity, I could enjoy it, as I was a target demographic after all.  white, young educated, upper-middle class male.  it lacked crispness of direction, but I think this was part of the formula: life is not actually comprised of these meaningful narratives, we just construct them in the aftermath.  so who is to ask for finality out of a movie, particularly one that is heavily focused on the interpersonal?

That felt wholly unnecessary; I didn't watch the movie for the supporting characters.

Harry Potter 7.2, much better than 7.1 but still pretty boring until the big wizard fight at the end. The scene at the end was dumb, Harry was the only one that actually looked even vaguely like a 30-something. Of course making Emma Watson look old would be a crime against aesthetic beauty so I won't complain.

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.

Well-paced, though the ending could have been better. Still probably in my Top 10 for the year, but it's been a weak year.

Jingle All the Way.

Obviously nothing special in terms of the film arts but it is one of the few enjoyable Christmas movies.

The Ides of March

Not bad, a strong cast certainly makes it worthwhile.

M:I 4 - great action set-pieces, but certainly not enough of a story in between.

Same here. I thought it was a very nice collection of action set pieces. Nothing more, nothing less.

Also the black chick was very hot.

The Darkest Hour

Yeah, don't bother.  But one thing I did learn from the six or seven trailers before it was that Liam Neeson made a lot of money this year.  Wrath of the Titans, The Grey and Battleship were all shown pretty much back to back.  The man had a busy schedule.

And he might be in The Dark Knight Rises too...

I suspect working so much probably helps him to take his mind off of his late wife.

It makes Crotch Capers 3 look like Naughty Nurses 2. Wait, this is Backdoor Sluts 9, not Lord of the Rings, right?
