THE HANGOVER 2

Decent. Worth a few laughs but no where near the classic that the original one was. Not really anything memorable.

EXIT THROUGH THE GIFT SHOP

Quite interesting. The theories as to whether it is a hoax or not are quite intriguing.

X-MEN: FIRST CLASS

I was really into the first half, when it was pretty much just James McAvoy being smooth, Michael Fassbender kicking ass, and Betty Dra...January Jones looking beautiful. Once more and more mutants came in I started to lose interest. Still thoroughly enjoyable and probably the best comic book flick since THE DARK KNIGHT

ROAD TO PERDITION

I've been meaning to see this for awhile and was finally able to catch it on a movie channel. A pretty great film, although the ending was a bit predictable I suppose but that doesn't take anything away from it. Pre-Bond Daniel Craig was thoroughly treacherous and vile; I don't know how he wasn't recognized for his portrayal. I'm exciting to see what Sam Mendes does when he teams up with Craig again for Bond 23.

Didn't really like the movie that much though. Seemed a bit cliched and I didn't really feel involved in the characters.

That's because George Lucas directed it.

I'm hearing from a lot of regular people who didn't like it though. Perhaps they were expecting non-stop explosions or something?

Unfortunately that's usually the case.

The marketing and name kind of implies a Fast and the Furious type of movie unfortunately.

That's no excuse for ignorance/bad taste.

Not saying I've seen the film yet but that's usually the case.

I saw a trailer for that and my first thought was how awkward the title was and how weird it'd be to buy tickets to. Doesn't exactly roll off the tongue and there's no short hand like how most people just bought tickets to "Harry Potter" instead of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2". I suppose you could just ask for tickets to "Tinker Tailor" but it's not a blockbuster so would the clerk know off hand? Might be a fun movie to observe as someone whose job is to work the ticket booth.

Didn't know it was out in the UK yet either, isn't opening here until December.

How dare they not rename John Le Carre's classic novel!

Never heard of the novel or the original BBC miniseries until I saw the trailer.

Really?

Refer back to who you just quoted.

TWIN PEAKS: FIRE WALK WITH ME

Definitely more David Lynch than the show. It provides some interesting background but pales in comparison to the show. Not enough Dale Cooper, who really carried the show, either.

I'm thinking about giving VIDEODROME a viewing later to continue the weirdness.

Classic. Too bad it was made by a terrible person.

MULLHOLLAND DR.

Classic Lynch-weirdness. I had actually never seen most of it before I caught it on television this morning. Apparently it was originally designed as a pilot. I would've loved to see it as a television show but networks would've castrated it. Perhaps with the television revival that seems to be going on with programs on AMC and HBO, Lynch could be inspired to try to bring it to the small screen again. It would be a great gift for those (like myself) that miss "Twin Peaks."

I'm currently working my way through the second season.

The second season is a bit weak in my opinion but it has to be appreciated since that's all there is. The last few episodes of the season are on the level of the first season though.

There's also the film TWIN PEAKS:FIRE WALK WITH ME that seems to divide people. Not enough of my namesake in it for my tastes.

Hunger Games.

That scene was particularly boring in comparison to the rest of the movie.

Disagree. That was one of my favorite parts.

I'm with Eraserhead. Brilliant scene. And fairly important for understanding the plot as well, imo.

Well there was no real 'plot', but yeah it was an important scene.

After my first viewing I had an interpretation of the plot that was fairly straightforward. Two more viewings have only reinforced that interpretation.

(and before anyone accuses me of smug pretentiousness, Lynch has said that the film has a plot and I think my interpretation is the standard one. I do take some pride in having come up with it independently though Cheesy)

Is it remarkably different from the dream interpretation?

Apparently the users of IMDb think Avengers is one of the top thirty movies of all-time. I can't really judge because I haven't seen it yet. Oh, and it already has over 51,000 votes, and it hasn't even been released in the U.S. yet, correct?

Nothing against THE AVENGERS but I wouldn't trust IMDb users to rank ice cream flavors, let alone the top thirty films of all time.

Robert Downey Jr. was absolutely awesome in it.

Was he once again playing Robert Downey Jr.?

NIAGRA

Clearly Hitchcock influenced. Joseph Cotten is good as always. Marilyn is a babe (...as always).
