Losing badly to Casey Cagle in the primary.  Closer in the general.
The only poll I saw was this Strategic Vision poll conducted a month ago that had Reed up 40-34. Have any others been released since?

Hmm.  I feel that there was an AJC/WSB poll more recent than that.  If I can find it, I'll post it in the Gubernatorial board.

Blanche Lincoln / Tim Kaine v. (NOTA for GOP) Johnny Isakson / Lindsey Graham

I'll even give you a map Smiley

Blanche in a LANDSLIDE ... I probably don't have the states right, but her margin of victory will be impressive.

Where do people on here think Lynn Swann will be ANYTHING let alone a Presidential candidate?  The guy is a joke and we will soon see that when Ed Rendell whoops his ass in the debates.

^^^^

This is what I'm thinking.  Swann's got short term popularity right now but Rendell is going to nail him down somewhere in the debate and crush him.

Obama/Ritter isn't that bad a ticket...assuming Ritter gets elected, and then re-elected, and if he's able to get a third term, re-elected again.

Hmm ... very hard to say.  Let's look at where the major cans for Pres were 10 years prior to the election.  For sanity let's only go back to 1980.

*1980 - Reagan vs Carter
In 1970 Reagan had just be elected to his 2nd term as Gov of CA.  In 1970 Carter had just been elected Gov of GA.

*1984 - Reagan vs Mondale
In 1974 Reagan was wrapping up as Gov of CA.  In 1974 Mondale was in his 2nd term as Senator.

*1988 - HW Bush vs Dukakis
In 1978 Bush was Chairman of the First International Bank of Houston (after years of being a Washington bureaucrat).  In 1978 Dukakis was losing his bid for a 2nd term as Gov of Mass.

*1992 - HW Bush vs Clinton
In 1982 Bush was VP of the US.  In 1982 Clinton had just been reelected Gov of AR.

*1996 - Dole vs Clinton
In 1986 Dole was entering his 4th term in the Senate.  In 1986 Clinton was Gov of AR.

*2000 - W Bush vs Gore
In 1990 Bush was acting as owner of the Texas Rangers baseball team.  In 1990 Gore (after running for Pres in '88) was entering his 2nd term in the Senate.

*2004 - W Bush vs Kerry
In 1994 Bush was just being elected to his 1st term as Gov of TX.  In 1994 Gore was VP of the US.

So .... the most popular place to get a canidate from is Gov's (7 of the 14).  Next is Senators (3 of 14).  Then sitting VP (2 of 14).  And last we have a semi-retired bureaucrat and a baseball team owner.  So using those profiles let's rule out the VP's and pick out 6 canidates from each party.

Election of 2016 Canidates
----------------------------------
Republicans:
-Dick Shelby (AL)
-Don Goldwater (AZ)
-Tim Pawlenty (MN)
-Jeb Bush (FL)
-Michael Hayden (PA)
-Jeffrey Loria (FL)

Democrats:
-Eliot Spitzer (NY)
-Bill Nelson (FL)
-Jim Doyle (WI)
-Ed Rendell (PA)
-Mike Easley (NC)
-Evan Bayh (IN)

Assuming the VP is picked from the other canidates I foresee a GOP ticket of Bush and Hayden against the Democratic ticket of Nelson and Bayh.

Anyone think Bobby Jindal is a good fit for the GOP?

It's going to become a Spitzer thing if he runs against Blanco next year, this guy could be serious.

Another name that jumps out is Jim Nussle

Typical midwestern conservative, certainly would be strong and finishing up his second term as governor.

Gov. Eliot Spitzer (NY)/Gov. Chris Bell (TX) - Democratic
Sen. Rudy Giuliani (NY)/Fmr. Sen. Bill Frist (TN) - Republican
Mayor Matt Gonzales (CA)/David Cobb (TX) - Green
Steve Kubby (CA)/Doug Stanhope (AZ) - Libertarian

Mostly just wishful thinking, but you never know.
