Individual businesses should have the right to choose whether women can breastfeed in public or not, or whether to set aside bathroom space for it.

If anyone has ever seen a woman breastfeeding in public, you will know that the public cannot see a single thing for the entire duration.  It's not as if breastfeeding is akin to softcore porn with topless women and whatnot.

So, yes, I see nothing wrong with this.

Yes, I support this.

I find it ironic that the same people who would oppose this are the ones who tend to claim that a woman's main role in life is/should be as a mother.

If a woman is in public and has to breast feed, she can always go into her car with the air conditioner/heater on (private property, and semi-secluded from the general public).  However, with breast pumps and formula easily available for young mothers to use, there is no reasonable excuse a prepared mother would have for having to feed in public.  Breast milk will keep for more than one day without spoiling if kept in the freezer, so the mother can pump an extra bottle or two if she has to take the baby out for an extended period without having to breast feed.  Terrible bill, and I can't wait for it to go to court and get it overruled.

Anyone ever read "Lonely planet:  Peru" by chance?  Unless you've been there, or are planning to go there you probably haven't.  It actually says in the general intro pages that it's rude in Peru to photograph women while they're breastfeeding their babies.  So when I first read this sentence many years ago I thought, "do people actually need a book to tell them not to take pictures of women breastfeeding their babies??!"  I'm really thinking the same thing here.  Do we really need a bill that says if a baby is hungry the mommy can pull out the old mammary gland and let him suck?  Is this what we pay those bastards for?  Seriously.  Okay, for all the single guys out there:  babies have no teeth.  They know nothing.  They can't walk, eat, or even wipe their own sh**t from their asses.  Now you know.  So when they get hungry, all they know is that somewhere there's a lump of flesh that they can suckle from and get full.  I can't believe grown-ups actually need a law to tell them this sort of thing.  Are you people stupid?  seriously.  Do you need the lonely planet guide to tell you not to take pictures of women breastfeeding their babies and a law to tell you it's okay to let a baby have mother's milk in public?  Sorry for the rant, but this is really assinine.  WTF.  Man, I feel like I could go on for days about this, but it seems pointless, since a society that needs to be told such things is a society that has much bigger problems than lack of respect for human physiology.   Mammals suck tits, okay, that's just the way it is.  And any mammal who feels her baby is in need of immediate nourishment will have the instinct to feed that baby whether you think it's okay or not.  We don't need a stupid law to tell us that.

I see nothing wrong with it -and it is far healthier for infants to be breast-fed at the mother's nipple than to be fed some formula from a bottle.  In fact, it should be encouraged whenever and wherever possible.

The never ending attempts by the wingnuts to make a womans body state property.

Which of course pales in comparrison with the governor thinking she can dictate what can be done on private property.

Governments dictating what can be done on private property is a good thing. I can't murder on private property, rape on private property, store drugs on private property, construct a nuclear warhead on private property, etc. All this is regardless of what the "owner" says I can do.

You might point out that I gave a bunch of examples of things you can't do. OK, then: I can walk on private property (sidewalks), I can attempt to sell things on private property (door-to-door).

I'm not sure I understand the wording of this question...but no, I don't consider breastfeeding at all times and all places to be a fundamental human right, so I guess no... Tongue

I have no problems with this bill. Breast feeding in public is perfectly natural. Why does it matter if the babys gulfing down a hambrger or sucking on a nipple? Smiley
