Taking an idea from WalterMitty, let's see if we can get another story going.

January 20, 2005, the second inauguration of President George W Bush and Vice President  Dick Cheney.

After the swearing in, mysteriously, both President Bush and Vice President Cheney suffer heart attacks.  Security guards immediately swarm over the fallen President and Vice President and their wives.  

The President and Vice President and their wives are whisked away in limos to the Walter Reed Medical Center.  It is not known at this time if the heart attacks would prove to be fatal.

Chaos breaks out in the crowd.

House Speaker Dennis Hastert, attending the inauguration, is immediately surrounded by a multitude of security guards, who take him to a waiting limo, and speed to a secure location in the capitol building, to await news of the state of the President and Vice President.

Hastert is taken to a secret location.  While there, a phone rings, the caller alerting him that the President and Vice President are alive, but in critical condition.

However, during the night, the doctors are unable to save President Bush.  He dies of a bullet being lodged in his heart.  Meanwhile, Dick Cheney is unconcious and may be going into a coma.

President Cheney passes away several hours later.  President Hastert assumes power, with Senator Ted Stevens, President Pro Tempore, being taken away into a secret location.

President's Hastert's time in office begins with a secret swearing in in the Situation Room of the White House. Overnight the FBI have detected a cell of radical liberals from San Francisco whose sole intention is to...

Turn everyone gay.  The next morning, the FBI immediately arrests the entire group under President Hastert's orders, citing executive power.  The Congress is immediately called into emergency sessions, although Barney Frank is conspiciously absent. . .

. After hours of searching, he is found breaking out the radicals. He is just one of 10 senators arrested that week on various charges. The buzz of the need of a special election is beginning to get rather loud. The next day at a press conference, President Hastert announces....

to a shocked nation that the group of liberals were themselves infiltrated by supporters of Fred Phelps who hoped to create a national backlash against homosexuals. The Secret Service agent had been seen at Phelps church during the previous month and family members say he expressed sympathies with what Phelps taught. Phelps himself appeared to be in hiding.

president hastert nominates sec of state colin powell for the vice presidency.  however, powell refuses and resigns from the cabinet.

The next day, an anonymous man leaks documents to the national media, which, if true, tie Hastert himself in with the assassination of Bush.

Hastert goes onto TV and kills himself.  Ted Stevens is inaugurated as President.

President Ted Stevens nominates conservative syndicated columnist, bestselling author, constitutional lawyer, and television pundit, Ann Coulter for Vice President.

Coulter wins approval from the Republican controlled House and Senate, with help of southern conservative Democrats, within 1 month, and she is sworn in as Vice President the same day.

One week later, 82 year old President Ted Stevens suffers a heart attack and slips into a coma.  Vice President Coulter assumes the duties of President.  Two days later, President Stevens dies, and Coulter is sworn in as President.

Coulter immediately nominates Senator Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania for Vice President, who wins approval of the House and Senate within two weeks and is sworn in the same day.

A liberal seccession movement gains momentum in parts of the Pacific coast and New England. As tensions grow, a motion to seceed is made in the Vermont state legislature.

Vermont Sucessfully seceeds from the Union. Soon after, California, Illinois, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Massachusetts and Hawaii seceed from the Union. President Coulter declared martial law and says that the anti-american liberals secessionists will soon be dealt with.

The namby-pamby infiltrated-homosexual do-gooder liberals banned guns and so they are unable to stop the Coulter juggernaut. Feinstein does, however, manage to pull off President Coulter's plastic mask during a heated catfight, revealing the hideous truth that Ann Coulter is actually a....

... liberal. Underneath the mask is Hillary Clinton.

As a result, America surrenders to the Confederation of Homosexual States. Feingold is unanimously elected president.

Hillary Clinton is imprisoned for impersonating a President.  Ann Coulter is found where the insurgents have been holding her captive in San Francisco.

Since Ann Coulter is already the legitimate President, the election of Russ Feingold is ruled by the Supreme Court to be invalid, and the real Ann Coulter is sworn in as President by Chief Justice William Rehnquist.

President Coulter launches a counter offensive, telling the nation, "America will never surrender it's values to anyone.  We will not rest until we have restored America's greatness."

As the legitimate President, Coulter gains the support of the military leadership and the military itself.  The military is sent into every insurgent area of the nation, and brings down the forces of the rebellion.   

She announces that "those responsible for betraying the United States of America will be dealt with to the fullest extent of the law."

General Colin Powell, true patriot he is, announces his support of President Coulter and volunteers to lead the Union forces against the Blue State Secessionists.

Meanwhile, in the region of Afghanistan known as Tora Bora...

Ann Coulter goes to.  Here, she preaches to the Muslim community that "We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity."  She is immediately shot by Hamid Karzai.  She dies within the next two hours.  Rick Santorum becomes the sixth president in about three months.  He nominates Bob Casey for Vice-President as an attempt for national unity.

What Santorum does not know though, is that Casey is on Vladmir Putin's pay-roll. His job is to assassinate Santorum, and help Putin resurect the USSR...as well as....

...expand the CCCP to include all of former communist Europe, Finland, Iran, Afghanistan, Mongolia, Inner Mongolia and a large section of northern China, as well as Sapporo and the Korean Peninsula. Last but not least, Russian forces are starting to be massed on the western shore of the Bering Strait, preparing for a eastward strike.

With six Presidents in two months, though, I don't understand who would want the job.

As things stand now, Rick Santorum is President, and he has nominated Bob Casey for Vice President, but Casey has not yet won House and Senate confirmation, if he ever does.

Meanwhile, a break-in at the Belarusian embassy in Switzerland, intel from CIA moles in the Kremlin and emails between Casey's office and Russia make Putin's scheme known to President Santorum...but, it isn't revealed to the public. With Santorum's pants on fire, he either has to withdraw Casey or face the music.

But remarkably, there is a period of relative stability in America, until one night when someone at the Pentagon spills coffee over a machine, causing a cruise missile to be accidentally launched from Alaska, hitting one batallion on the other side of the Bering Strait. Immediately, Putin uses this as an opportunity to declare war on NATO. World War Three is on.
